EDMONTON -- Alberta added fewer than 500 new cases of COVID-19 for a third straight day as the province reported 390 new infections Tuesday.

Six more Albertans, ranging in age from their 40s to 80s, were also reported to have died Wednesday. There have now been 2,198 deaths due to COVID-19 in Alberta since the start of the pandemic.

Active cases fell for a 16th straight day, down to 10,953, about where the active case count was in early April.

There are 548 COVID-19 patients in hospitals, including 157 in intensive care units. Both of those numbers have fallen over the past week...

Alberta reported 513 new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday and one more death from the illness.

Across the province, there were 10,017 actives cases, with 538 patients being treated in hospitals, including 150 in ICU beds.

Alberta has administered more than 2.5 million doses of vaccine. It has reported one fatality and tracked 385 "adverse events" experienced by people who got injections, Premier Jason Kenney said Thursday at a news conference.

On Wednesday, Kenney's government announced a three-step plan that could see almost all public health restrictions lifted by July, as long as people continue to get vaccinated...

There were 512 new cases of COVID-19 reported in Alberta on Friday, a difference of only one case from Thursday’s count of 513 infections.

Also on Friday, the provincial government announced that over 60% of eligible Albertans have now received one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

This means that, as long as hospitalizations are below 500 and trending downwards, Alberta could move into Stage 2 of its Open for Summer Plan on June 10 and begin easing more public health restrictions...

...With Friday’s count of 512 new COVID-19 cases, there are now 9,277 active infections in Alberta. This marks the first time that the number of active cases has been below 10,000 since April 2.

There are currently 517 Albertans in hospital due to the virus, including 147 in intensive care. While this remains above the “500 hospitalizations and declining” benchmark to move into Stage 2 of the province’s Open for Summer Plan, it is a decrease of 21 people since Thursday.

There were seven new COVID-19-related deaths reported over the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of deaths to 2,206...

There are now 7,646 active cases in the province.

The number of COVID-19 patients in Alberta hospitals continued a downward trend with 439 receiving care, including 133 in intensive care units.

Alberta reached a turning point in its COVID-19 vaccine rollout on Tuesday, announcing that everyone who has currently received a first dose will be able to begin booking second shots between now and the end of June, Premier Jason Kenney announced.

People who got their first shot in March can book their second starting Tuesday afternoon, Kenney said. Those vaccinated in April can book second doses starting on June 14, while people who got their shot in May can book starting June 28.

"All Albertans with their first dose will be second-dose eligible by the end of June. And this is fantastic. It's also a big part of why the Open for Summer plan, we are confident, will work," Kenney said.

In March, Alberta joined other Canadian provinces in delaying second doses up to four months, based on the guidelines of the National Advisory Committee on Immunization (NACI).

In Alberta, 63.4 per cent of people 12 and older have already been vaccinated with one or both doses.

Alberta reported 209 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday along with one new death. The province's test positivity rate was at 5.1 per cent.

Kenney put Tuesday's numbers in contrast with the height of the third wave three weeks ago.

Active cases are down to 6,771, a drop of 73 per cent. There were 438 people in hospital as of Tuesday, a drop of nearly 300 compared to May 11...

Alberta reported 410 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, nearly doubling the number of new cases from the previous day.

Over the last 24 hours, 8,315 COVID-19 tests were completed, for a positivity rate of 4.9 per cent. On Tuesday, 209 new cases had been reported with a positivity rate of 5.1 per cent.

Currently, Alberta has 6,305 active cases of COVID-19, a decrease of 466 from Tuesday.

There are 435 people hospitalized with the virus, a decrease of three. Of those, 122 are in intensive care units, a decrease of five.

Four more deaths from COVID-19 have been reported, raising the provincial death toll to 2,231...

EDMONTON -- Alberta reported another 296 new cases of COVID-19 after completing approximately 6,800 tests.

The numbers were reported in a live update given by Dr. Deena Hinshaw, the chief medical officer of health for the province, on Thursday.

Hospitalizations continue to decline with a total of 411 people in hospital and 120 in ICU.

Five new deaths were reported Thursday, including four in the Edmonton zone. Two men, one in their 70s and the other in their 80s with comorbidities, died from COVID-19. Two women, one in their 50s with comorbidities and the other in their 70s with no comorbidities, also died.

One death in the Calgary zone was reported: a man in his 80s with comorbidities.

Approximately 305 variant of concern cases, including infections from previous days, were identified.

Hinshaw said the lower amounts of cases being identified has allowed variant screening for every case of COVID-19 to resume after the province halted this process in May...

EDMONTON -- Alberta reported 244 COVID-19 cases on Friday after more than 5,800 tests.

Active infections and hospitalizations are down to 5,415 and 379, respectively. There are 108 ICU patients.

The province has administered nearly three million vaccine doses to Albertans 12 and over: nearly 2.5 million first doses and more than 465,000 second doses.

Seven deaths were reported on Friday, including a man in his 20s in the North zone and a man in his 30s in the Central zone. More than 2,200 Albertans have died of COVID-19...

Alberta Health reported 293 new COVID-19 cases and three additional deaths from the disease on Saturday.

Three people with comorbidities died: a man in his 60s in the North zone, and a man and woman in their 70s in the Edmonton zone.

Alberta has 5,071 active cases, 221,644 recoveries and 2,246 deaths.

As of Saturday, the Calgary zone has 2,067 active cases, the Edmonton zone has 1,346, the North zone has 705, the Central zone has 664 and the South zone has 288. There is one case in an unknown zone.

The new cases came from 6,843 tests, meaning a provincial positivity rate of 4.4 per cent, Dr. Deena Hinshaw said.

There are 373 people in hospital, with 105 of them in intensive care, according to the province...

Sunday represented the first time since April 16 that fewer than 100 COVID-19 patients have been in intensive care unit beds in Alberta.
Alberta reported 127 new COVID-19 cases on Monday and two more deaths.
There are 4,707 active cases.
The rate of active cases was 110 per 100,000 people in Alberta.

Alberta's steady decline in the numbers of new and active cases of COVID-19 cases continued on Tuesday according to numbers released by Dr. Deena Hinshaw, Alberta's chief medical officer of health.

The province reported 139 new cases on Tuesday. Active cases fell to 4,431, the lowest mark since March 9, Hinshaw said. Total active cases have dropped by over 20,000 over the past month, she said.

There were 336 people being treated for COVID-19 hospital including 85 in intensive care.

The province reported three new COVID-19 deaths, a man in his 40s from the Calgary health zone and two men in their 60s from the North and Central zones.

The positivity rate was 4.18 per cent on 3,443 tests.

And while the province's leading COVID-19 indicators continue to drop, the pace of first dose vaccinations has slowed...

Albertans who received their first doses of COVID-19 vaccine in April can start booking their second shots immediately, Premier Jason Kenney announced Thursday.

The move accelerates the previous plan, which had been to open bookings next week for Albertans who had their first doses in April...

...Kenney said 67.8 per cent of Albertans have now received a first dose of vaccine.

Alberta reported 178 new cases of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, and 138 additional cases of variants of concern were identified.

Dr. Deena Hinshaw, Alberta's chief medical officer of health, said 306 people were in hospital as of Thursday, including 81 in intensive care.

The deaths of another six people were reported to Alberta Health. Five of the deaths were this week and one was from December.

EDMONTON -- Alberta reported another 170 cases of COVID-19 Friday as hospitalizations and ICU admissions continue to decline.

The province completed 6,682 tests to raise the positivity rate to 3.9 per cent.

There are 296 people in hospital with COVID-19 and 79 in ICU. Last Friday, there were 379 patients seeking treatment for COVID-19 in hospital including 108 in ICU.

Three more deaths from COVID-19 were reported Friday, raising the provincial total to 2,265 deaths.

More than 3.2 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Alberta with 67.8 per cent of the population aged 12 and over receiving at least one dose. Currently 16.7 per cent of the population eligible for immunization are fully vaccinated.

The province entered Stage 2 of the reopening plan on Thursday...

EDMONTON -- In Tuesday's COVID-19 update, the province reported 127 new cases and 2,804 active cases, the lowest since Oct. 15.

Dr. André Corriveau, the deputy chief medical officer of health for Alberta, also announced 85 of the new cases were variants of concern. Corriveau is filling in for Dr. Deena Hinshaw this week while she's on vacation.

The 127 new cases come after more than 4,400 tests, meaning the province is sitting at a positivity rate of 2.9 per cent. Corriveau also announced four new deaths due to COVID-19 in the last 24 hours...
