Anyone else suffering from FluTrackers OCD?

Re: Anyone else suffering from FluTrackers OCD?

That should definitely be on the preparedness supplies list - disinfectant, analgesic, sedative, toxin if needed....hmmmm.....

Re: Anyone else suffering from FluTrackers OCD?

Yes! Again. I thought I broke out for good, but now I'm baaaaccckkk!

Re: Anyone else suffering from FluTrackers OCD?

I'm in the healthcare setting as you can see......I can tell you that the ED's & Hosp's don't have the capacity for anything serious.....we don't have the beds, or the physicians, nurses or other support staff to flex up very much. Hospitals will have to keep patients they are used to sending to academic centers....I've sat here hours decompressing from a tough high admission day....and wondering if we get a surge of serious pts....what my future days will be like......my mother has leukemia (chronic type) but is suspectible, my dad is in his 80's, I have 2 kids 21 & 25....and I wonder if I'll be one of those experienced nurses who will choose family over duty......I think the answer will be yes.... and I am one of those hard core - stand by your side no matter what RN's.....so if I"m thinking this.....what of others......

Re: Anyone else suffering from FluTrackers OCD?

I work in a hospital, though in non-direct patient care (information technology). Although we treat cancer exclusively, I do wonder if we would be pressed into service in the event of, say, a repeat of 1918.

I have a daughter with cystic fibrosis and am terribly afraid, not only of her contracting the flu (and Cf patients are highly susceptible to pneumonia), but also that my wife and/or myself might be incapacitated, making it more difficult to care for either of the kids, let alone the one who needs the added care.

Re: Anyone else suffering from FluTrackers OCD?

Im a newbe on the site. I have been lurking for months. Its the only link I have saved on my IE browser. I don't know which is worse my bass fishing site during spawn of this site in a crisis? I manufacture airquality systems for a living and our phones have been ringing nonstop since Monday for containment equipment.

Re: Anyone else suffering from FluTrackers OCD?

Now that you "took the FluTrackers bait" - you'll probably retreat to the lake more frequently...... I'm glad I did my homework in 2006 - it's my favorite site for info....other than CDC.....

Re: Anyone else suffering from FluTrackers OCD?

I have been writing power points and literature all day to respond to the current crisis for different engineers across the country. And here I am at home relaxing watching Fox News and still got the computer out on this site.:surrender:

Re: Anyone else suffering from FluTrackers OCD?

Since you're Editor-in-Chief & President your "success" tells me you failed at setting limits!

Re: Anyone else suffering from FluTrackers OCD?

I've tried to set limits on my internet usage since I first started using it 14 years ago. I still can't do it. :)

Re: Anyone else suffering from FluTrackers OCD?

I have been here for several years and I can't stop posting. :) I note that several of you have been here as lurkers for just about as long but haven't been posting much. Be careful, once you start posting you can never get away. :D

Re: Anyone else suffering from FluTrackers OCD?

I've been a lurker (non-registered) here for years. Been bouncing through my best news aggregators for days. I work where I have access to some government info, low-level, plus have contacts from the years of H5N1 research.

I can't stop looking for signs of the flu in my area (just had mention of suspected cases), but at least I am prepped as much as can be.

I do like having solid info that I can share with friends, family & coworkers. It helps me stay calm being able to help other people.

Re: Anyone else suffering from FluTrackers OCD?

Back in 2003 I lobbied AOL for a Bird Flu board I moderated. I researched and posted like mad. Absolutely consumed me. For the last few years I've still spent my 1st 10 - 15 minutes each day trolling news & updates. Now that something is finally here - I just feel sad. Tired.

I went walking in the woods, and down by the lake today. God, nature and glory everywhere :) Glad spring is here. I've been so tied to this computer for the past 5 days I forgot anything else was out there. But it is - and it's good.

Everybody take time for a walk :)

Re: Anyone else suffering from FluTrackers OCD?

I'm feeling very 9/11'ish so its great advice- The Mountains Voice. I'm going to spend a few extra minutes watching my birds at the feeders in the morning before going to work. Balance is key and I'm very off balance right now....

Re: Anyone else suffering from FluTrackers OCD?

Welcome, Sekhmet. I suppose lurking can be good. :)

There's only so much internet presence a person can actively maintain at one time :surrender:

Facebook, email, work, forums, news, etc....it gets overwhelming to contribute everywhere.
