Whooping Cough Cases On the Rise

Across Arkansas, cases of pertussis ? also known as whooping cough ? are up. The Arkansas Department of Health reports 307 confirmed cases of pertussis so far this year ? the highest amount since 2009.

Benton and Sebastian counties have the highest number of confirmed cases so far this year with 12 in each county...

Spike in Whooping Cough Shuts Down Greers Ferry School

GREERS FERRY, AR -- The Department of Health closed an Arkansas school after what it calls an epidemic of whooping cough breaks out.

KARK investigated what West Side School District in Greers Ferry is doing to scrub away the problem. For starters, they have canceled school for five days. Students will be allowed back Tuesday.

Officials are asking any child with a cough to also wait five days before returning...
