The 46-year-old woman was a contact of a previously reported case...

The unvaccinated adult had likely acquired the virus during a recent overseas trip to Vietnam...

There has been another case of measles on Queensland's Sunshine Coast.

Queensland Health says a person became infectious while visiting Caloundra last week and also visited Stradbroke Island in recent days.

It is the third confirmed case on the Sunshine Coast in the past month.

Dr James Smith says given the large numbers of people potentially exposed to measles, residents in Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast should be on alert.

Dr Smith says further measles cases may occur in Brisbane or anywhere in Queensland over the next few weeks...

AN UNCONFIRMED case of measles has prompted a local high school to issue a warning to parents.

Mandurah Catholic College sent a letter out on Monday advising that a child with an unconfirmed case of measles was present at the school on March 24, 25 and 26.

Principal Kerrie Fraser told parents in the letter she had been asked to inform the school community of the matter and provide information about the disease despite the case in question having not yet been confirmed.

The incubation period for measles is about eight-14 days after exposure...

Anyone who visited Brisbane?s CBD over the weekend are at risk of catching measles and should check themselves for symptoms.

Metro North Public Health Unit has issued a measles alert for anyone who was in the CBD between March 29 and 31 after an infectious person visited the area.

People who visited Sake restaurant on Eagle St, The Stock Exchange Hotel on Edward St, or Pancake Manor on Charlotte St, should be especially vigilant.

The infectious person also travelled on 306 or 322 bus routes on those dates...

A message posted on the Stuartholme School website yesterday said Queensland Health?s Metro North Public Health Unit had been notified of one case ?associated with the school?.

It said the person had been at school between May 5 and 12, while unaware they were infectious...

QUEENSLAND Health has confirmed six cases of measles in North Lakes and issued a measles alert for anyone who visited several venues across Brisbane.

A measles alert is issued for people that visited the following venues between May 8 and 21

? The North Lakes Aquatic Centre on the afternoon of May 16
? Brisbane Entertainment Centre Boondall on May 15
? A car show at the Rocklea Showgrounds on May 9
? Mercure Hotel at North Quay on May 8,9, and 10.


Public Health physician Dr Madhu Chatterji said information had been sent to the venues where possible.

It has also been confirmed that two infectious people visited the Redcliffe Hospital emergency department, one on May 11, and one on May 21 .
The hospital is contacting those who may have been at risk of exposure...

TWO children under five and four adults have been diagnosed with measles, in one of the state?s largest outbreaks this year.

The six new cases visited a range of crowded venues during the time they were infectious, prompting health experts to today warn Queenslanders to be alert for symptoms.

The six cases all live in North Lakes and an alert has been issued for the locations they visited while infectious, from 8 ? 21 May:

? A car show at the Rocklea Showgrounds on May 9;

? Mercure Hotel at North Quay on May 8 and 10;

? The Nitro Circus Live show at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre, Boondall on May 15; and

TWO new measles cases have been diagnosed, taking the total number of cases in Queensland this year to 41 and prompting a public health warning about the highly infectious condition.

Queensland Health authorities have urged all Toowoomba residents to ensure their measles vaccinations were up-to-date after the discovery of the two new cases.

The two people were family members of the primary-school aged child who tested positive for the condition earlier this month...

...Communicable Disease Unit senior director Sonya Bennett said there had now been a total of 41 cases in Queensland to-date this year, compared to 12 at the same point last year.

?We?re already well on the way to the total 52 cases confirmed in Queensland in 2013, and we?re not even halfway through the year yet,?? Dr Bennett said...

...The 41 cases have been predominantly in Brisbane metro north (23), with 6 cases in metro south, 2 on the Sunshine Coast, 5 in Darling Downs, 2 at the Gold Coast, 1 in Cairns and two in overseas residents.

Health authorities in far north Queensland say they are unaware of any further presentations for measles in Cairns, after a case was confirmed on Friday evening.

The director of Tropical Public Health Services, Dr Richard Gair, says the man arrived on an Air Nuigini flight from Port Moresby at 11:00am (AEST) on June 29 and visited a Cairns GP with symptoms two days later.

In the interim, the man visited several locations across the city including the Centrelink office on Grafton Street on June 30...

A SECOND measles case has been identified in Cairns.

Health authorities said today a person recently arrived in Cairns from Papua New Guinea on Air Niugini PX98 had been identified as carrying the highly contagious disease.

This follows a case confirmed last week also involving a traveller on flight PX090 from Papua New Guinea on June 29.

The new case arrived in Cairns on Sunday and attended a GP clinic and the Callana Pharmacy on McLeod St on Monday...

A single case of measles was diagnosed in the territory on Friday, the third in the ACT this year.

A spokesman for ACT Health confirmed the single case on Friday evening and said more information should be available on Saturday.

ACT acting chief health officer Andrew Pengilley said members of the public could have been exposed to measles virus at Kaleen Plaza Shopping Centre and Kaleen Supabarn between 10am and noon on Wednesday...
