SHOPPERS who have visited a busy centre in Melbourne?s southeast are being warned they may be at risk after a measles outbreak that has infected two teens.

Victoria?s chief health officer Professor Charles Guest said the siblings from Rowville may have been unwell when they travelled back to Australia from Kuala Lumpur on AirAsia flight D7214, which arrived at Tullamarine Airport on January 5.

Prof Guest said the children visited Fountain Gate Shopping Centre and a cinema with family on January 8 before they were taken to hospital, where they stayed between January 12 and 14...

North Coast Public Health Unit reports measles case in region

The North Coast Public Health Unit has been notified of a case of measles in the Macleay Valley and anticipates that other cases may emerge over coming days. The person acquired the infection overseas, and developed measles symptoms after returning home.

Public Health Director Paul Corben said that measles is highly infectious among people who are not fully immunised.

Anyone in the Port Macquarie or Kempsey areas who is not protected against measles should be alert for symptoms, particularly those who were at the Majestic Cinema in Port Macquarie on Sunday 8 January, Barnett?s Bakery in Kempsey on Monday 9 January, Kempsey District Hospital Emergency Department on Thursday 12 or Friday 13 January or Tristar Medical Centre in Kempsey on Friday 13 January 2017...

Health authorities have warned that another case of measles contracted overseas has been brought back to Sydney.

It is the seventh such case in nine weeks.

An infectious person travelled from Bangkok to Sydney on March 2 and then spent time having lunch at a restaurant in Marrickville on March 5...

...Metro North Public Health Unit believes the man, in his 40s, was unknowingly infected when he travelled to locations including Brisbane International Airport and the Holy Spirit Northside Private Hospital earlier this month.

The man's travels also included a trip to Bali via Sydney Airport and a visit to a seafood restaurant at Scarborough...

The warning was issued by Victoria's acting chief health officer Dr Brett Sutton on Sunday after a person was found to have worked at a discount department store while infectious with measles...

Health authorities have warned another person who has contracted the measles spent time in several public areas in Sydney suburbs while they were contagious.

The man in his 20s - who contracted the infectious disease overseas - travelled around the CBD, inner west and Baulkham Hills between 31 January and 4 February, NSW Health reported on Wednesday.

This man spent time at:

Norton Plaza, Leichhardt ? 31 Jan
Stockland Mall, Baulkham Hills ? 1 Feb
Martin Place food court ? 2 Feb
Mary's (restaurant and bar) Newtown ? 2 Feb in the evening

More measles cases after Gold Coast residents return from Bali holiday

...A woman in Brisbane's south was confirmed to be carrying the infection on March 7 and a Chermside man became the second case in two days on March 9.

Two family members returned from a Bali holiday on February 27 and on Tuesday were confirmed to be carrying measles.

The Gold Coast Public Health Unit warned the two patients visited the following places while they were infectious:

Brisbane International Airport on February 27: Virgin Flight VA40 Denpasar (Bali) to Brisbane arriving at 9am
The Blood Collection Centre and pharmacy department of the Gold Coast University Hospital on March 7 between 11am and 1pm
One of the patients also attended a school while infectious and health officials were working with the school to notify parents.

HEALTH officials have written to parents at St Stephen?s College on the Gold Coast after a primary school student was diagnosed with measles.

Two children from the one family, including a baby under 12 months old, were diagnosed with the highly infectious virus after returning from Bali last month.

The other child attends the school at Coomera.

City of Karratha residents are being urged to be on alert for symptoms of measles following a confirmed diagnosis in a person who contracted the infection while in Bali.

WA Country Health Services has warned the individual has visited Karratha, Roebourne and Wickham while infectious, potentially exposing people to the highly contagious illness.

The person visited the Karratha City Shopping Centre, KFC and Wickham Woolworths between 11.30am and 1pm on Sunday March 12.

They have also been confirmed to have visited the Roebourne Hospital all morning on March 6 and Wickham Medical Centre at 1.30pm on March 9 and at 11am on March 10.

They visited Nickol Bay Hospital on the evening of March 9 and from 1pm March 10 to 11.30am on March 12...

THOUSANDS of visitors who were in Noosa for a surfing festival this month may have been exposed to measles.

A measles alert was issued for the Sunshine Coast on Friday afternoon after an adult who had taken a trip to Bali visited several locations in the region while infected with the dangerous disease.

Anyone who was on Hastings St or at the Blended Health Bar on Hastings St from 10-11am on Saturday, March 4 is encouraged to seek medical attention.

Laguna Real Estate Noosa Festival of Surfing director Sam Smith said the date coincided with the opening day of the festival and organisers would be issuing a warning email to everyone on their database.

"However, we don't believe that anyone has come down with symptoms,? Ms Smith said.

Measles signs and symptoms appear 10 to 14 days after exposure...

concerned there could be more cases.

Public Health Physician Dr Penny Hutchinson says the patient was infectious from March 6 to 11.

Symptoms usually start around 10 days after infection, meaning there could be further cases up until this Wednesday...

Health authorities have urged the public to be on alert for a highly infectious disease.

Two children and a young woman contracted measles and spent time in western Sydney, visiting several public places between March 16 and 23.

They had not been vaccinated.

This brings the total number of measles infections in NSW to 11 for 2017, eight of which were acquired overseas.

The most recent case in Sydney involved an infectious person who travelled from Bangkok to Sydney on March 2...

Ten measles cases have been confirmed in the past week in western Sydney, with NSW Health pushing for vaccinations to thwart the outbreak.

Six more Sydneysiders have contracted measles, taking the number of cases in the past week to 10, with many of those infectious while in the Auburn and Bankstown areas.

NSW Health said the recent wave of victims spent time while infectious in the Children's Hospital Westmead on April 1-2.

'This brings the total number of cases in NSW, with onset this year, to 19,' NSW Health's director communicable diseases, Dr Vicky Sheppeard, said on Wednesday.

The infected people frequented sites including Wyndham College at Quakers Hill, Fairfield District Medical Centre, Fairfield Hospital Emergency Department, Westmead Children's Hospital Emergency and the NAS Medical Centre in Auburn during the past week...

The patient visited Sydney?s Powerhouse Museum and Darling Harbour on 14 April while he or she was infectious.

He or she also went to Liverpool Westfield over three days in mid-April, Blacktown hospital on 15 April and the Casula Central Medical Practice and nearby Chemist Warehouse three days later...

A MEASLES alert has been issued for the region following a confirmed case in a child who flew into Townsville from Bali.

The child from Mackay flew in from Bali on April 18 on Jetstar flight JQ101 and visited McDonald's and Subway in North Ward before returning home that same day.

The child has also gone to the Mackay GP Superclinic on Wednesday, April 19, along with the Chemmart Pharmacy and the Sullivan Nicolaides Pathology next door.

The measles diagnosis was confirmed on April 21...

West Australians heading overseas, particularly to Bali, are being warned to make sure they have been vaccinated against measles after another case originating from the holiday island.

The WA Health Department said there had been more than 20 separate importations of measles from Bali to WA since 2013, including seven this year ? more than for any other overseas destination...

Western Australians travelling to Bali have been put on high alert following a confirmed measles outbreak in the region.

A WA traveller is the latest confirmed case of the disease, and triggered a 'public health emergency' warning from the Department of Health.

The Department said people could have been exposed to the recent case if they visited the following locations in Perth between April 27 and April 30:

Thursday April 27: around 3pm at the Coles supermarket in Fitzgerald Street, North Perth
Friday April 28: around 8am at the IGA supermarket in Second Avenue, Mount Lawley
Friday April 28: around 3pm at Vintage Cellars in Second Avenue, Mount Lawley
Saturday April 29: between 9am and 10.20am at Loftus Recreation Centre in Leederville
