Perth locals who spent the weekend at Rosemount Hotel, Lucky Chans and Perth International Airport may have been infected with the measles virus, according to the Department of Health.

The department issued a measles warning on Tuesday after health authorities reported a Western Australian was infected by the virus when visiting the Philipines earlier this month...

Unvaccinated baby catches measles after arriving in Sydney

An unvaccinated baby has contracted measles after arriving in Sydney, prompting pleas from the health department for people to get the jab.

The infant, which was travelling from South East Asia, came down with the potentially deadly infection last week shortly after arriving in Sydney. The child visited major tourist attractions including Circular Quay, Taronga Zoo and Chinatown as well as Canberra, Jindabyne and Perisher between August 17 and 19...

Alert after four children with measles visited regional SA

SA Health has issued a public alert after being notified of a case of measles in a 7-year-old child, and three subsequent cases in his unvaccinated siblings visiting from overseas.

The boy acquired the contagious disease overseas and his siblings aged 4, 9 and 11 years subsequently also caught it but were diagnosed interstate.

SA Health Chief Medical Officer and Chief Public Health Officer, Professor Paddy Phillips, said the children are now interstate but travelled to many locations while infectious in regional South Australia...

Measles warning issued for Mid North Coast

THE North Coast Public Health Unit has been notified of a case of measles in an unvaccinated child resident of the Coffs Harbour-Woolgoolga area and anticipates that other cases may emerge over coming days.

Mr Paul Corben, Director of North Coast Public Health Unit, said that measles is highly infectious among people who are not fully immunised.

Anyone in the Coffs Harbour-Woolgoolga area who is not protected against measles should be alert for symptoms, particularly those who were in Woolgoolga on August 28 or in the Coffs Harbour central business district on August 29 or 30.

As the investigation is ongoing, other places and times of potential exposure may be identified...

Four cases of measles confirmed on Mid North Coast

LOCAL health authorities are again asking people to watch for symptoms of measles with four cases now confirmed in the Coffs Harbour to Woolgoolga area.

A further suspected case in an infant is being investigated. The cases occurred after two unvaccinated school-aged children returned from an overseas holiday with the disease and infected two classmates.

Three of the four primary school-aged children are unvaccinated...

Western Australians are being asked to be alert to the risk of measles after three adults caught the disease while visiting the Joondalup Health Campus emergency department (two of these three people are related).

People may have been exposed to the disease on Melbourne Cup day at Ascot and Crown Casino.

The exposure was the result of an earlier confirmed case in an adult who was infected while holidaying in Cambodia, and later presented to the Joondalup Health Campus emergency department for treatment...

Health unit warns of measles outbreak in Brisbane

A man on Brisbane's northside, who has been infected with measles, has sparked a public warning from the Metro North Public Health Unit.

The man in his 30s was believed to have had measles while travelling overseas and was infectious from December 16 to 25.

He visited places including Felons Brewing Co at Howard Smith Wharves in Brisbane on December 16, Oxford Street Bulimba on December 19 and Eatons Hill Shopping Centre from 4pm to 5.30pm on December 20.

He also visited The Prince Charles Hospital Emergency Department from 7.30pm to midnight on December 19 and again from 5pm to 9pm on December 21...
