Azerbaijan takes preventive measures against bird flu as H1N1 virus has been identified in Turkey, Hong Kong and Georgia recently.
The migration of wild birds from the South-Eastern Asia to Azerbaijan, as well as identification of the virus in neighboring Turkey and Georgia increases probability of H1N1 cases in Azerbaijan too, press service of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources reports
Therefore the ministry made decision to ban winter fowling in the country?s territory from December 1, 2010 and suspended legal validity of hunting permission given to the territorial units of the ministry.
The ministry also addressed the State Commission on coordination of joint activity of all relevant organizations for prevention of bird flu in the Republic of Azerbaijan.
