Streptococcus Pneumonia blamed on death in South Euclid

(South Euclid) - Investigators with the Cuyahoga County Department of Health are looking into the death of a seven year old South Euclid girl.

Jae'Lyn Whittington got sick last Thursday while in class at Rowland Elementary. She was sent home with a high fever.

Her condition worsened and she was pronounced brain dead Sunday. The girl came down with streptococcus pneumonia but death from the bacteria is very rare.
