COVID-19 case numbers in B.C. continue to rise as province records 150 new infections

The number of new COVID-19 cases in British Columbia continues to rise as officials reported another 150 infections on Tuesday.

Nearly two-thirds of the new cases are in the Interior Health region, which reported 95 infections. Elsewhere, there were 32 cases in the Fraser Health region, 17 cases in Vancouver Coastal Health, three in Northern Health and three in Island health.

British Columbia’s seven-day average of cases dipped to 36 in early July, but has now climbed to 99 cases.

No deaths from the disease were reported, leaving B.C.’s COVID-19 death toll at 1,768.

The number of people in hospital with COVID-19 rose slightly to 44 while the number of patients in intensive care increased by five to 22.

There are 783 active cases in the province, an increase of 88 from Monday...

The B.C. government announced 185 new cases of COVID-19 and three more deaths on Wednesday, the highest number of new daily cases since June 5.

In a written statement, the province said there are currently 909 active cases of people infected with the novel coronavirus in B.C., the most active cases since June 28.

The regional breakdown is as follows:

35 new cases in Fraser Health, which has 208 active cases.
26 new cases in Vancouver Coastal Health, which has 136 active cases.
113 new cases in Interior Health, which has 503 active cases.
Two new cases in Northern Health, which has 16 active cases.
Eight new cases in Island Health, which has 41 active cases.
One new case of a person who typically resides outside of Canada; a group that has five active cases.

A total of 47 people are in hospital, with 20 in intensive care, up from 16 last Wednesday.

Overall hospitalizations are about the same as a week ago.

The provincial death toll from the disease is now 1,771 lives lost. There have been 149,444 confirmed cases to date.

As of Wednesday, 80.9 per cent (3,747,391) of eligible residents 12 and older in B.C. have received their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, while 63.2 per cent (2,931,128) have received a second dose...

B.C. health officials announced 204 new cases of COVID-19 but no additional deaths on Thursday.

It's the highest number of new cases in a single day since June 5, with the province's seven-day rolling average tripling within the last 12 days, from 44 to 131.

In a written statement, the province said there are currently 1,055 active cases of people infected with the novel coronavirus in B.C., the first time since June 26 the number of active cases has been over 1,000.

The regional breakdown is as follows:

58 new cases in Fraser Health, which has 241 active cases.
23 new cases in Vancouver Coastal Health, which has 139 active cases.
107 new cases in Interior Health, which has 600 active cases.
Two new cases in Northern Health, which has 19 active cases.

In a written statement, the B.C. Ministry of Health said there are currently 1,231 active cases of people infected with the novel coronavirus in B.C., more than double what they were a week ago.

A total of 47 people are in hospital, with 16 in intensive care, down from 17 a week ago.

VANCOUVER -- British Columbia recorded another 742 cases of COVID-19 and one related death over the long weekend, health officials said Tuesday.

The latest numbers from the Ministry of Health pushed the province's rolling seven-day average for new infections to 196, up from 35 in early July. The last time B.C.'s average topped 200 cases per day was on June 5.

Officials said 160 infections were identified from Friday to Saturday, followed by 196 from Saturday to Sunday, 185 from Sunday to Monday, and 201 from Monday to Tuesday...

... B.C.'s active caseload increased to 1,544, which is up more than 300 from Friday and the highest it's been since June 13.

The number of coronavirus patients in hospital also increased to 53, including 19 in intensive care...

COVID-19 surging in B.C. as province reports 342 new cases, a two-month high

COVID-19 continues to surge in British Columbia where health officials reported 342 new cases but no additional deaths on Wednesday.

It was nearly double the 185 cases reported last Wednesday and brought B.C.’s seven-day average for new cases up to 219.

The last time B.C. reported more than 300 cases in a 24-hour period was more than two months ago.

The Interior Health region — where vaccination rates lag — represented half of the new cases at 171.

There were 66 cases in the Fraser Health region, 57 in the Vancouver Coastal Health region, 13 in Northern Health, and 32 in Island Health. Three cases were in people who lived outside of Canada.

Active cases climbed again to 1,764.

The highly-contagious Delta variant is believed to be driving the surge in new cases. Delta made up 60 per cent of B.C. cases as of July 24 according to the BC Centre for Disease Control. UBC mathematical biologist Prof. Sarah Otto told Global News on Saturday it could make up nearly all new cases within weeks...

VANCOUVER -- B.C.'s Ministry of Health announced another 402 cases of COVID-19 on Thursday, pushing the province's seven-day average for new infections to nearly 250.

The update also represents the biggest single-day increase in cases B.C. has seen since May 21. The province's active caseload jumped to 2,066 as well, the highest it's been since June 7.

B.C.'s ongoing surge in COVID-19 infections has caused some concern that the province could be heading for a fourth wave of the pandemic...

BC health officials announced 464 new test-positive COVID-19 cases on Friday, bringing the total number of recorded cases in the province to 151,839.

In a written statement, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry and Health Minister Adrian Dix said that there are 2,411 active cases of COVID-19 in the province.

The seven day rolling average of new daily cases (355) is now at its highest since May 25.

In a written statement, the provincial health ministry said there are currently 3,036 active cases of people infected with the novel coronavirus in B.C.

The new cases by day are as follows:

Aug. 6-7: 422 new cases
Aug. 7-8: 364 new cases

British Columbia announced 717 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday — the highest daily case count since May 7 when the number was 722.

No additional deaths were announced on Friday.

In a written statement, the province said there are currently 4,277 active cases of people infected with the novel coronavirus in B.C., the most since May 22.

A total of 82 people are in hospital. Of those, 39 are in intensive care, up from 24 a week ago.

British Columbia’s COVID-19 situation continued to deteriorate Thursday, as the province reported 689 new cases and two additional deaths.

It lifted the seven-day moving average for new cases to 556.

Hospitalizations, a key metric for measuring the pandemic, climbed to 121 — the highest they have been in nearly two months. Of those patients, 56 were in critical or intensive care, the most since June 8.

British Columbia health officials on Monday reported 1,711 new cases of COVID-19 over the past three days.

There were 724 cases from Friday to Saturday, 545 cases from Saturday to Sunday, and 442 from Sunday to Monday. Three of the cases were epi-linked...
