As of Friday, Oct. 22, 2021, 89.4% (4,145,426) of eligible people 12 and older in B.C. have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine and 83.9% (3,891,058) have received their second dose.
In addition, 89.9% (3,887,545) of all eligible adults in B.C. have received their first dose and 84.6% (3,659,100) have received their second dose.
B.C. is reporting 649 new cases of COVID-19, for a total of 200,898 cases in the province.
Note: The numbers of total and new cases are provisional due to a delayed data refresh and will be verified once confirmed.
There are 5,106 active cases of COVID-19 in the province, and 193,325 people who tested positive have recovered. Of the active cases, 365 individuals are currently in hospital and 143 are in intensive care. The remaining people are recovering at home in self-isolation.
Note: Intensive care numbers are a subset of the total in hospital. They are not in addition to the number of people in hospital...

British Columbia announced 1,618 new cases of COVID-19 and 20 more deaths from over the weekend on Monday. The daily breakdown of new cases over the last three days is as follows:

Oct. 22-23: 613 new cases
Oct. 23-24: 529 new cases
Oct. 24-25: 476 new cases

In a written statement, the provincial Health Ministry said there are currently 4,966 active cases of people infected with the novel coronavirus in B.C.

A total of 366 people are in hospital, with 149 in intensive care.

Overall hospitalizations, which typically lag behind spikes and dips in new cases, are up from last Monday by six patients and up about 14.3 per cent from a month ago when 319 people were in hospital.

The number of patients in intensive care is down by two from 151 a week ago and the same number as a month ago when 149 people were also in the ICU.

The provincial death toll from COVID-19 is now 2,129 lives lost out of 202,516 confirmed cases to date...

B.C. health officials announced 457 new cases of COVID-19 and 2 more deaths on Tuesday.

In a written statement, the province said there are currently 4,829 active cases of people infected with the novel coronavirus in B.C.

A total of 390 people are in hospital, with 155 in intensive care.

Overall hospitalizations, which typically lag behind spikes and dips in new cases, are up by 2.1 per cent from last Tuesday, when 382 people were in hospital with the disease, and about 28.7 per cent from a month ago when 303 people were in hospital.

The number of patients in intensive care is up by about 6.2 per cent from 146 a week ago, and up by 9.9 per cent from a month ago when 141 people were in the ICU.

The provincial death toll from the disease is now 2,131 lives lost out of 202,973 confirmed cases to date...

British Columbia reported 609 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, along with six additional deaths.

The update left B.C.’s seven-day average for new cases at 578, while the number of active cases in the province fell to 4,748..

...There were 422 active cases in hospital, the first time the figure has topped 400 since May 13. Of them, 157 patients were in critical or intensive care.

The hospitalization numbers do not include patients who were no longer infectious but remained in hospital for other treatment — a figure officials have not provided since Sept. 21, despite promises to do so...

British Columbia reported 758 new cases of COVID-19 along with 10 additional deaths.

The update lifted B.C.’s seven-day average for new cases, and saw the number of active cases climb to 4,961...

VICTORIA - British Columbia hospitals are postponing some surgeries due to staffing shortages created by unvaccinated health-care workers who have been put on unpaid leave, says Health Minister Adrian Dix.

There are currently 3,325 health-care workers across the province who have not been immunized against COVID-19 in violation of the government’s proof-of-vaccination policy for health-care workers, which took effect last month, Dix said Monday.

The staffing shortages will result in reductions of operating services in hospitals in the Interior and Fraser health authorities, while added demand for health care has forced surgery postponements in many other parts of the province, the minister said at a news conference.

“Across B.C., the vast majority of our surgical rooms continue to run, but due to a variety of challenges there have been some reductions,” he said. “Kelowna General Hospital has reduced two operating rooms this week to compensate for staff who did not meet vaccination requirements who are on unpaid leave.”

Dix mentioned hospitals across the province that are facing staffing pressures, including those in Kamloops, Abbotsford, North Vancouver, Richmond and New Westminster...

British Columbia announced 1,370 new cases of COVID-19 and 25 more deaths from over the weekend.

The breakdown of new cases from the last three days is as follows:

568 new cases from Friday to Saturday.
470 cases from Saturday to Sunday.
332 cases from Sunday to Monday, the lowest one-day cases number since Aug. 9

Another 406 new cases of COVID-19 have been reported in British Columbia, along with five virus-related deaths, the province said Tuesday...

...Tuesday’s case count brings the province’s seven-day moving average for new cases to 532.

There are 4,694 active cases of COVID-19 in the province, up slightly from Monday.

The province reported there are 445 people in hospital with COVID-19, 137 of whom are in intensive care.

B.C.’s COVID-19 death toll stands at 2,186.

The province announced that 90 per cent of eligible people in B.C. aged 12 and older have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine while 85.4 per cent have received two doses...

British Columbia reported 596 new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday, along with eight additional deaths.

While the update represented B.C.’s highest daily case count in a week, the seven-day average for new cases fell to 484.

There were 4,451 active cases provincewide.

Of B.C.’s active cases, 438 people were in hospital and 130 were in critical or intensive care.

The breakdown of new cases is as follows:

Nov. 5-6: 553 new cases.
Nov. 6-7: 462 new cases.
Nov. 7-8: 423 new cases.

A total of 407 people are in hospital, with 121 in intensive care.

Overall hospitalizations, which typically lag behind spikes and dips in new cases, are down by seven per cent from last Monday, when 436 people were in hospital with the disease.

Another 500 new COVID-19 cases reported in B.C., along with five deaths

Another 500 new cases of COVID-19 have been reported in British Columbia, along with five deaths, according to the B.C. Centre for Disease Control’s COVID-19 dashboard.

Tuesday’s case count brings the seven-day average for new cases in the province up to 502...

...The seven-day rolling average of B.C.’s positivity rates is four per cent. Vancouver Coastal Health has B.C.’s lowest average positivity rate at 1.7 per cent while Northern Health has the highest at 16.5 per cent.

After declining over the weekend, the number of people in B.C. hospitals with COVID-19 rose by 19 to 426. Of those, 124 are in intensive care, an increase of three from Monday...

British Columbia's seven-day average for COVID-19 cases crept upward once again after the government announced 555 new infections and 11 related deaths on Wednesday.

The latest numbers, posted on the B.C. Centre for Disease Control's COVID-19 dashboard, pushed the seven-day average to 520 per day, up from 475 on the weekend.

Up until recently, the average had been steadily trending downward, after reaching 641 cases per day toward the end of October.

B.C.'s active case count also inched up slightly to 4,321 on Tuesday, while the number of infectious COVID-19 patients in hospital plummeted to 379 – a drop of 47 from Monday. It's unclear what might account for that sudden drop, and the Ministry of Health has yet to release a daily statement on the numbers.

The number of patients in critical care, who are included in the hospitalization total, also fell to 117 from 124...

...The number of people in hospital with the disease remained unchanged at 376. Of those patients, 107 are in intensive care, a decline of nine from Monday.

There are 3,568 active cases of COVID-19 in the province, the lowest total since Aug. 10.
