Bolivia reports 43 confirmed Dengue cases

La Paz. Confirmed Dengue cases in Bolivia rose to 43 on Wednesday, almost doubling the figure as reported up to Tuesday, a senior Health Ministry official said, as cited by Xinhua.

Epidemiology director of the Bolivian Health Ministry, Rene Lenis, also said that there are 532 possible cases of patients with Dengue-like symptoms who are under medical control.

On Tuesday, Leni said that the confirmed Dengue cases in Bolivia reached 24. All the 43 cases were detected from the period between January and Feb. 10.

Lenis told Xinhua that last week one girl died of hemorrhagic dengue in Santa Cruz, central Bolivia.

Among the 43 confirmed cases, 20 were in the department of Beni, nine in Santa Cruz, five in La Paz, five in Tarija and four in Pando, Lenis said.
Bolivia faced in 2009 its worse dengue epidemic in 20 years, with 50,000 confirmed cases. Twenty-two people died of hemorrhagic dengue.
