PE registers another 58 cases of severe acute respiratory syndrome in 15 days
In the first three months of this year, Pernambuco registered 232 cases of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) - one of them was positive for the H1N1 virus. The number was released on Tuesday afternoon (17), by the State Department of Health (SES), based on the balance of influenza in Pernambuco that considers data until the 13th epidemiological week - that is, until March 31. SARS cases represent an increase of 58 cases compared to the 11th week (up to March 17), when 174 cases of SARS were recorded.
In the same period of 2017, there were 390 occurrences, with 39 cases of H3N2 virus, 5 of influenza B, 2 of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) and 1 of parainfluenza. Comparing the two years, there was a 40.5% decrease in SARS cases in 2018, according to SES.
