PE registers another 58 cases of severe acute respiratory syndrome in 15 days


In the first three months of this year, Pernambuco registered 232 cases of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) - one of them was positive for the H1N1 virus. The number was released on Tuesday afternoon (17), by the State Department of Health (SES), based on the balance of influenza in Pernambuco that considers data until the 13th epidemiological week - that is, until March 31. SARS cases represent an increase of 58 cases compared to the 11th week (up to March 17), when 174 cases of SARS were recorded.
In the same period of 2017, there were 390 occurrences, with 39 cases of H3N2 virus, 5 of influenza B, 2 of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) and 1 of parainfluenza. Comparing the two years, there was a 40.5% decrease in SARS cases in 2018, according to SES.

The State of Pernambuco confirms, on the afternoon of Tuesday (08), the third death of the year of patient with severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) that presented a positive laboratory result for the H1N1 virus. The information is in the bulletin that includes data until April 28. In addition, the number of people who became ill due to influenza increased to 60, considering mild and severe cases of H1N1, H3N2 and influenza B.The balance still registers 452 cases of SARS, with 14 positive results for H1N1 and 10 for H3N2. Added to these cases, there are the cases of influenza-like syndrome, which brings together 23 confirmations for H1N1, 12 of H3N2 and 1 of influenza B.The number of SARS cases this year represents a decrease of 30.4% compared to 2017, when 650 were registered, 62 for H3N2, 8 influenza B, 3 respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) and 1 for influenza.

The State Department of Health (SES) confirmed, on Wednesday (16), three new deaths of patients with the influenza virus in Pernambuco in 2018. Exams verified the presence of H1N1 virus in two patients, in addition to the three confirmed cases previously, for the same virus. Also confirmed was the first case of death of a person infected with the H3N2 virus this year. In all, six people died of influenza in 2018.The epidemiological bulletin released by SES covers the cases recorded from January 2018 until May 5. In the same period of 2017, there was one death with confirmation for the influenza, and the five dead people had confirmation for the H3N2 virus.



Of the two new cases of people dead with H1N1, one of them was a one-month-old baby, who died on April 13 in Carpina, Zona Norte Mata de Pernambuco. The other case was that of a 17-year-old girl who died on April 18 in Camaragibe, in Greater Recife.The first death of the year of a patient infected with the H3N2 virus was from a nine-year-old girl, who died on March 24 in Jaboat?o dos Guararapes, in the Metropolitan Region.

Seven confirmed deaths in Pernambuco due to severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) due to the influence of H1N1 and H3N2. The last victim was a 90-year-old woman living in Goiana, Metropolitan Region of Recife (RMR), who was hospitalized on April 17 and died four days later. She had confirmation of the H3N2 virus. So far, all confirmed deaths have been concentrated in the month of April, between the 2nd and 24th of that month, five being H1N1 and two H3N2.
