Brazil - Rio Grande do Sul already records 16 cases of deaths from H1N1 flu

The State Department of Health informed gaucha, this Thursday (31), four more people have died of swine flu in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, in July. The victims were two men, one of 62 years, Canoes, and another of Uruguaiana, 18, an elderly 75 years, also of Canoes, and a child of 7 years of Santa Cruz do Sul. None of them had been vaccinated. At the end of June, the COUNTRIES had already recorded in your weekly bulletin the first two cases of deaths from swine flu in the State, of two women, in Porto Alegre and Canoes, with 57 and 58 years, respectively. They needed to be hospitalized for harm caused by viruses. Even so, compared to 2013, the numbers are best: this year were confirmed 72 cases of Influenza in the State, against 453 in the same period of last year. While this year has registered six deaths due to the virus until 31 July, last year 62 people had already been victims of Influenza.

State records eight deaths from The swine flu this year

Number of deaths with a reduction of 88% in relation to 2013



The survey updated this Friday by the State Department of Health indicates that more a death by swine flu occurred in the state of Rio Grande do Sul. Thus, rises to eight the total number of deaths caused by the Influenza virus in the State in 2014. Four of them were recorded in the municipality of Canoes, in the Metropolitan Region. The eighth death was recorded on the last day 29, in the municipality of Pedro Osorio, in the Southern Part of the State. The victim, a man, had not been vaccinated and also did not make use of specific medication. Despite the new victim, the indices of deaths caused by The swine flu have fallen considerably in relation to last year. In 2013, were registered 497 cases and 68 deaths until the first half of August. In addition to the eight deaths (reduction of 88 % ), 96 (a decrease of 80 %) people were affected by viral infection in 2014.

Number of deaths from influenza in 2014 rises to 16 in RS, says Health

Went up to 16 the number of deaths from swine flu in the state of Rio Grande do Sul in 2014, as bulletin on the disease published by the State Department of Health (SES) on Thursday (18). Were recorded two more cases, in Brace and New Santa Rita, in the Metropolitan Region of Porto Alegre. As the SES, were registered 25 cases and nine deaths in the state since January by the virus H1N1 and 123 cases and seven deaths by other variation of Influenza A virus, H3N2. The municipality of Canoes, in the Metropolitan Region, the highest number of cases of deaths, with five. Porto Alegre until now has 50 registered cases and four deaths. In the same period of last year, were recorded 71 deaths from swine flu in the state, which is equivalent to 77% reduction in the number of deaths in comparison with 2014. The number of cases also fell from 492 to 148, the equivalent to 69% of reduction.
