In the past three weeks, hospital admissions for influenza caused by the Influenza virus have increased throughout the state. Since the beginning of the year, 119 hospitalizations have been confirmed. Of these, 107 were from type A (H3N2), nine from Influenza B and three from Influenza A - one confirmed for A (H1N1) and two awaited subtypes. In total, 14 people died, all from the virus Influenza A (H3N2). The data are contained in Epidemiological Report No. 09/2017 - Influenza Surveillance, released on Thursday (1st), by the Epidemiological Surveillance Department (Dive) of the State Health Department (SES).
[h=1]The number of deaths due to influenza A in Santa Catarina rose to 21[/h]
Since the beginning of the year, 21 catansenses have died from influenza A. All deaths were caused by the influenza A subtype, H3N2. Influenza has also caused 158 hospitalizations in the state, 144 of which are for H3N2, one for H1N1 and 11 for influenza B. Two cases are still under investigation for the subtype.
