Second death due to H1N1 confirmed in Sergipe
The second death for H1N1 in the state of Sergipe was confirmed by the State Department of Health, on Tuesday (29). The 38-year-old man sought medical care on March 31 at Nestor Piva Hospital, then was transferred to Hospital S?o Jos? on April 2, where he was hospitalized for 52 days and died on May 23. The first case of death by H1N1 in Sergipe happened earlier this month when state epidemiological surveillance confirmed death by H1N1 from a five-month-old baby. He was from the municipality of Itabaiana. The State Department of Health also reported that 41 people were diagnosed in Sergipe with H1N1, two of them died. According to SES, the contagion of the disease happens through the air and for prevention there is vaccination. The Flu Vaccination Campaign was extended until June 15, so far 324,000 doses of the vaccine have been applied throughout the state of Sergipe.
