Case Descriptions for India, Update.

I am collating as much information about Indian fatalities as possible - name, age, gender, symptoms and treatments. Since the original thread, I have gone through the list of cases again and found a few errors. I had recorded Dipti Pawar twice, Shahida Warsi and Sayeeda Doorjwala are in fact the same person and so on. I am still missing information on one fatality from Chhattisgarh - I have details for Sitaram Verma and YS Rao, but newspapers report a third fatality.
I will update this document with more information on cases as it becomes available.
The current death toll is 77.

I have 65 cases entered. My current method involves waiting a couple of days for more information before adding new cases, so the database will lag new reports a little. If you have any specific data requests please ask in this thread or pm me.

The database now contains information on 200 Indian fatalities. 183 have been confirmed locally or nationally. 17 were suspected flu deaths 8 of which tested negative for H1N1 and 9 of which I have been unable to verify.

Thanks, RoRo, for updating the fatalities database for India, a valuable resource.

Some statistics based on the data that RoRo has entered. Note that age and sex are not known for all of the cases of H1N1 deaths.

About 47% of the deaths are female, and 52% are males.

About 21% of the deaths are youths younger than 18. About 23% are individuals between the ages of 19 and 29. About 42% of the deaths are individuals between 30 and 49 years old. the remaining 15% of deaths are individuals older than 50. These fatality statistics are similar to those reported in other countries and demonstrate that the fatalities are occurring in the younger, vibrant population in India in contrast to expected fatality rate from seasonal influenza.
