First cholera case reported

With the outset of monsoon, the city got its first case of cholera from one of its slums here today.
The administration was quick to react though with health officials visiting the house of the patient, Sulekh Chand, at Mauli Jagran village. Sulekh Chand, who runs a tea vend in Sector 28, had been unwell for the past few days and was admitted to the Panchkula General Hospital from where his samples were sent to the PGI. He was diagnosed with cholera today. Sulekh was later discharged from the hospital.
