Chikangunya & 193 Dengue cases reported in Goa in 2010
Panaji, December 17- Ten Chikungunya and 10 Dengue cases were found in Goa in the third week of December taking the total of number of cases of this vector born disease in Goa to 607. Whereas the total number of Dengue cases for the year 2010 from January till date is 193.
In the period from December 11 to 17, 2010 , 37 samples were tested at the Microbiology Department of GMC out of a which 10 samples were conformed positive for chikungunya. Incidentally three of these cases are reported from the areas around the state capital itself.
These cases are from following areas. PHC Cortalim -1, CHC Canacona-1, PHC Corlim-2, UHC Mapusa- 1, PHC Siolim-1, CHC Pernem-1, UHC Panaji-3,
