Detected radioactivity in Chile on cars from Japan

Chilean Customs officials reported a dozen cars from Japan with low levels of radioactivity in a ship going to unload vehicles in the Chilean port of Iquique, according to the state agency.
The alert prompted a hundred workers manifest Sunday terminal and temporarily closed access to facilities, although regional authorities claimed that low levels of radioactivity does not pose a danger to your health.

Yokohama is located approximately 330 kilometers from Fukushima, where operators are still struggling to secure the nuclear plant whose cooling system was damaged by the tsunami on 11 March.
The vehicles were transported to Chile to be sold in the free zone of Iquique, about 1,790 kilometers north of Santiago.
An inspection in which a special machine used officials found twenty cars with radioactivity levels between one and three are considered normal, and one with five index (on a scale of 1 to 10).
"The detection rates are well below the Chilean norm," said Quezada, who explained that the cars will be washed inside the ship and the water used for it will remain within the same vessel.
Meanwhile, Customs regional director Raul Barria, stressed that "so far has not landed any vehicle, until they are accepted for further review."
The port captain, Sergio Valenzuela, meanwhile reported that "the work in the port, either on the dock of the Port of Iquique (EPI) and the maritime dealership Iquique Terminal Internacional (ITI) is being made normally "
