Bogot?, 8 Jul (Notimex) .- The epidemic of influenza reached the 138 human cases in Colombia, after the authorities confirmed today that 13 new infections in the Andean country, said the Ministry of Social Protection.

The unit said in a new report that it is patients who traveled to areas affected by the virus AH1N1 or had direct contact with people infected by the disease.

The new cases were reported in nine localities in Colombia, including Bogota, where there have been four deaths since it was detected the presence of the epidemic in May.

The National Institute of Health reported that since then there have been three thousand in Colombia 877 warnings of potential virus-infected, 914 thousand of them under investigation on suspicion of infection.

Given the rise has had the disease in Colombia, with a greater impact in Bogota, the government asked people to extreme health checks, to prevent further expansion of A/H1N1 virus in the South American country.
