[h=3]Abstract[/h] The Sofia fluorescent immunoassay showed excellent sensitivity and specificity compared to conventional fluorescent immunoassay for Influenza A (Influenza B was not detected during the study period) and RSV in patients with suspected ILI (influenza-like illness). Thus the fast and easy-to-handle Sofia FIA leads to rapid and reliable diagnosis, which can be used by clinicians to avoid unnecessary antibiotic treatment and rapidly identify patients who need to be isolated upon hospital admission.
