The number of dengue cases in Costa Rica decreased by 65.6% in the first month of 2014 compared to the same period of 2013, health authorities announced today.According to the Ministry of Health, between 1 and 25 Jan. 791 people sick with dengue, 65.6% less than the 2,299 affected in the same period of 2013 were recorded.The only region of Costa Rica having an increase in cases is the southern region, where they increased by 146% compared to the first month of 2013, which raised the alarm of the authorities to strengthen measures to combat dengue .

In our country and a total of 1,062 dengue cases reported, this according to data from the Ministry of Health, which represents a decreasing trend of 67% of cases compared to last year.

In 2014, total 1,262 cases of dengue in Costa Rica

SAN JOSE, Costa Rica. (Reuters) -. The Ministry of Health of Costa Rica reported today that from 1 January to 15 February last recorded 1,262 dengue cases, representing a decrease of 64.5% compared to the same period in 2013.

Data from the Ministry of Health indicate that last until 15 February 1262 dengue patients, none of which is of the severe variety, which can cause death were recorded.

This figure is 64.5% below the 3,553 dengue patients that were counted in the same period of 2013.

Until May 10 (corresponding to the epidemiological week 19), the Ministry of Health had reported 2,409 dengue patients across the country.

That figure is 67.5% less than the accumulated the same period last year.

The Costa Rican Social Security Fund (CCSS), meanwhile, recorded a considerable decrease in the number of cases handled: 2,853 sick cut from 16 May; a reduction of 65% compared to 2013.

These other areas are Chorotegan, the Caribbean and Brunca Hu?tar regions, according to statistics from the Health Surveillance, which represents78% of the national incidence.

Numbers of cases of dengue in Costa Rica have dropped 74%, according to the Ministry of Health

The number of dengue cases in Costa Rica decreased by 74% so far in 2014, compared with the same period last year, the Ministry of Health.

Between January 1 and July 4, 4,214 people were reported sick by the dengue virus, 74% less than the 16,075 affected in the same period in 2013, the year in which a historic outbreak occurred.

So far in 2014, the authorities reported two cases of severe dengue and no fatalities.

San Jose, Jul 21 (EFE).- Costa Rican health authorities reported Monday a drop of 75 percent in cases of dengue fever to date this year compared with the same period in 2013.

Health Ministry figures indicate that between Jan. 1 and July 18, 4,602 people have fallen ill with dengue, a decrease of 75 percent from the 18,124 recorded between the same dates last year...
