Measles Cases Reported in Connecticut

Connecticut has two confirmed cases of measles in Farifield County, according to a spokesperson for the state Department of Public Health.

DPH spokesperson Bill Gerrish said one patient is an adult and the other is an infant. The cases are not related and their origins are unknown.

A letter sent to parents in the Region 14 school district advised parents of the cases. The letter, dated March 7, says school administrators were notified by the Pomperaug Health District. The towns of Bethlehem and Woodbury make up Region 14.

Gerrish said the first patient developed a rash Feb. 2. The second patient's rash broke out Feb. 12...

NEW HAVEN >> A confirmed case of measles in a New Haven County adult Thursday rounds the total for 2014 so far to three in the state.

The New Haven County adult broke out in a rash Thursday and officials from the state Department of Public Health said in a press release Friday that the source of the case is unknown. Officials did not say where in New Haven County the adult lives...

...The state health department put out an advisory on the most recent case of measles, distributing it to health care providers and posting it online...

branford >> The East Shore District Health Department announced Tuesday in a press release that officials are investigating a measles case involving a New Haven County person who previously attended an April 21 playgroup at the James Blackstone Memorial Library.

The latest case is the state?s third thus far in 2014.

A Friday release indicated the person broke out in a rash Thursday and that the source of the case is unknown. Monday?s announcement asks any residents who were at the library on Monday, April 21, between the houses of 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. to confirm their measles immunization status with their healthcare provider...

The state?s fourth case of measles has been confirmed in Fairfield County, a state spokesman said Thursday.

Department of Public Health spokesman William Garrish said in a phone interview that the fourth person to be diagnosed with measles this year is a child who was unvaccinated.

He said he could not disclose the town where the child lives because of privacy concerns and that he did not have information about how the child contracted the disease...

MIDDLETOWN, CT (WFSB) -

Middlesex Hospital said it became aware of a suspected case of measles in a patient in the emergency room on Sunday.

Hospital officials said the patient was immediately isolated as a precautionary measure.

The state's Department of Public Health was notified and is taking the necessary steps to address this situation, hospital officials said...
