THE HEAD of the Cyprus Paediatric Society yesterday attempted to reassure the public, after it emerged that the 13-year-old boy from Kalavassos who died suddenly on Monday had been suffering from a contagious virus.
Concerns were raised further when it emerged that another child in the Larnaca district died under similar conditions just a few weeks ago.
According to Michalis Iasonides, the children?s deaths were caused by myocardial disease, which was brought on by viruses they had contracted. However, he stressed that the two viruses were unrelated and they wouldn?t have the same effect on children who weren?t suffering from myocardial disease...
