El Nuevo Diario, PUERTO PLATA The authorities of the Ministry of Health, through its provincial office of Puerto Plata, on Tuesday denied the existence of "zika" virus in this jurisdiction.

Before the commotion caused by this information, the provincial health director in Puerto Plata; Wadi Musa Valerio said that everything was a false alarm by a young lawyer mother of a 12-year-old, who was admitted to a private clinic in Puerto Plata and their families mistakenly believed that it could be the virus "Zika".

Valerio Musa said the "Zika" is a pox viral disease like dengue and Chikungunya are solely transmission vector mosquito Aedes aegypti, but that despite the existence of mosquito cited, in our country there is this virus for months as the authorities of the Ministry of Health activated protocols to prevent entry into the country "Zika", Ebola and other tropical diseases.

Also, epidemiologist Dr. Eliza Polanco, reiterated that it is not true that in this city of Puerto Plata is the first recorded case of "Zika" virus of the country and attributed the rumor, the desperate state of a mother.
