I had heard of this last week, while i was completing some documents within the government.I suspect this will take place as case levels increase.not that i think it will slow down the spread of H1N1. but, it will be done to help reduce the current degree of panic, within the public and among parents.

looks like the kids wont have a summer vacation.based on what i was told, this is most likely going to be what happens.the ministry of health is very concerned about the time period December through March.

ألمح الدكتور يسرى عفيفى، مدير مركز تطوير المناهج بوزارة التربية والتعليم، إلى إمكانية مد إجازة عيد الأضحى أو إجازة نصف العام التى تتزامن مع انتصاف فصل الشتاء، على أن تمتد الدراسة خلال شهور الصيف تعويضاً لتلك الإجازة حتى يتمكن الطلاب من دراسة المناهج بأكملها.

وأكد الدكتور يسرى عفيفى، لحلقة اليوم من برنامج "صباح الخير يا مصر" على التليفزيون المصرى، أن وزير التربية والتعليم وقيادات الوزارة لن يتوانوا عن اتخاذ قرار مناسب يحافظ على صحة الطلاب إذا اقتضت الضرورة، دون أن يفسر طبيعة هذا القرار، لكنه فى الوقت ذاته اعتبر إلغاء الدراسة قراراً خاطئاً ذا مردود سلبى اجتماعى واقتصادى، وقال "الإلغاء لن يتم طرحه على المدى القريب".

وأوضح عفيفى أن المناهج الدراسية تنقسم لأجزاء يقوم بشرحها المدرسين فى المدارس، وأجزاء أخرى مخصصة لزيادة مهارات الطالب تحت مسمى "التعلم الذاتى" بنسبة ثلث المنهج، لكنه شدد على أن جميع الأجزاء تدخل فى تقييم الطالب فى الاختبارات ولا يمكن إلغاؤها من المناهج.

وحذر مدير مركز تطوير المناهج من لجوء الطلاب إلى الدروس الخصوصية خوفاً من الإصابة بأنفلونزا الخنازير داخل المدارس، مشيراً إلى أن بعض مراكز الدروس تتسم بكثافة طلابية عالية بما يجعلها بيئة صالحة لانتشار المرض أكثر من المدرسة.

Suggested Dr. Yousry El Afifi, Director of the Center for Development of Curricula at the Ministry of Education, to the possibility of extending the vacation of the Eid al-Adha, or leave a half years, which coincides with winter relief, to extend the study over the summer months, compensation for such leave so that students could study the entire curriculum.
