El Salvador registers seven new confirmed cases of coronavirus; 5 cases are imported and 2 local; one in the municipality of Santo Tom?s and another in Jiquilisco, according to the latest update from the Government, this Sunday, April 12.

President Bukele reported that 457 tests were carried out on Saturday, of which the seven new cases resulted. "All imported cases have been in quarantine, since they entered our country," he said.

In addition, Bukele assured that 155 people from the quarantine centers were discharged to go home and that 2 new patients have recovered.

The number of confirmed cases rose to 125 cases, 98 active and 21 people recovered. There are 6 fatalities from the virus so far, according to the latest update at covid19.gob.sv. from this Sunday, April 12 at 12:25 in the morning.

The first victim was confirmed on March 31 and is a woman over 60, who had returned to the country from the United States. The second death is that of an 89-year-old man, who is also the first case of local contagion. The third victim is a man from the United States who arrived on March 14 and was sent to a containment center.

The fourth fatality is a 41-year-old man who entered the country on March 15 from Guatemala. Meanwhile, a fifth Salvadoran perished on April 7.

According to the data update at covid19.gob.sv., On Thursday, April 9, at 12:51 noon, the sixth death was confirmed.

The Government has proposed to the Legislative Assembly to restrict citizen circulation by hours in specific places or in the entire territory if necessary, as well as the power to seize the motor vehicles of those who violate the household quarantine and are taken to health centers.

These actions are part of the measures that the Executive Branch seeks to implement to contain the spread of the COVID-19 epidemic, which until this Saturday had caused six deaths and more than one hundred infections in the country.
