Seven days after the death of a young girl of 18 years with suspicion of avian influenza H1N1, a neighbor of the victim died with the same symptoms. Both live in the northern area of Teresina. The Epidemiology Management of Municipal Foundation of Health investigates the two cases. The girl died after passing by hospitals in Buenos Aires and Spring. The death certificate indicated that the cause of death was pneumonia. The elderly, identified as Jose da Costa Leite, 64 years, died today in Hospital urgencies of Teresina.
In both cases, the Surveillance of Epidemiology has collected material for examination to detect the actual cause of death. The exams are conducted in São Paulo and the results have not given deadline to be sent. According to the Municipal Foundation of Health, all the people who have had contact with the girl in the disease are being investigated. The family went through an interview and those who are experiencing symptoms will be tracked.
