Three more A/H1N1 flu cases confirmed in Finland

HELSINKI, June 15 (Xinhua) -- Three more people, all returning from New York, the United States, were confirmed to have been infected by the A/H1N1 flu virus in Finland, local media reported on Monday.

One of those infected is the father of two children who were infected over the weekend. The family returned to Helsinki from New York last Friday.

The other two cases were found in eastern Finland, one man in the city of Joensuu and the other in the city of Lappeenranta. Both had returned from New York last week.

A total of 10 A/H1N1 cases have now been confirmed in Finland.

All travelers, especially those from New York, are recommended to undergo a week of self-observation, and contact health centers if necessary.

A middle-aged man from the capital city region is the eleventh Finn to contract the swine flu virus, according to Helsinki University Hospital. The man returned to Finland from Chicago last Sunday.

The man began experiencing symptoms typical to swine flu, including fever and cough, during his flight home. The man has been receiving treatment since returning to Finland. His symptoms are reported to be mild, and he is currently recovering from his illness at home.

Officials have contacted the man?s travel companions and have provided them with prophylactic medicine.

Others who have been in contact with the patient have been advised about hygiene precautions and the identification of possible symptoms.

Finland has already found a total of 12 swine flu cases. Helsinki and Uusimaa
Hospital told the middle weeks of Miami on Sunday palanneella he is H1N1 -
infection. The infection was confirmed on Tuesday evening.

The man had been ill for the flight during the trip and got a flu medication returned to Finland. Symptoms

Authorities Confirm Five New Finnish H1N1 Cases

Health officials confirmed five new swine flu cases between Thursday and Friday, increasing the country's total to eighteen.

The five new cases, which have come to light since Thursday, were confirmed in Turku, Kuopio, northern Karelia and the capital city region, according to the National Institute for Health and Welfare, THL.

Three of the patients testing positive for H1N1 recently returned from the United States. One had been in Mexico, and one had recently returned from Hong Kong, reports THL.

Health officials report that the patients are doing well as they have contracted a milder form of the virus.

All Finnish swine flu cases to date have been among travellers.

THL is urging all travellers, and especially those who have been in Mexico, the United States, Canada, Australia and Chile to keep a check on their health for a week after returning home and to phone their health service if they come down with symptoms of a feverish respiratory infection.

New cases of the H1N1, or swine flu virus have been confirmed in Finland, raising the total number of diagnosed cases to 21. Four new cases were reported on Thursday, and three were reported on Friday.

All of the diagnosed victims in Finland have recently come from other countries, especially among travellers returning from the United States.
Infections have also come to Finland as unwanted travellers? souvenirs from Mexico, Hong Kong, and Australia.

Public health authorities are urging people returning from Mexico, the United States, Canada, Australia and Chile to monitor their own state of health for at least a week after coming back to Finland, and to contact a health centre if any flu symptoms emerge.

The World Health Organisation estimates the number of confirmed H1N1 infections at over 44,000.

Finland's 25th case of swine flu has been confirmed. The latest H1N1 patient is a young man from Oulu who recently returned from a trip to the United States.

The latest case was confirmed Sunday. Four new cases were reported on Thursday, and three were reported on Friday.

Last Weekend in Finland there were 9 new confirmed cases of influenssa
A(H1N1). Almost all infected were tourists who returned home from United
States. Also one person in Finland got infection from the close relative
who returned home from United States. All the infected are doing well
and are at homecare.

Finnish Health authorities says " We are not surpriced to have first
secondary infection case in Finland, because this case is a close
contact with patient who returned home from epidemic area.

Finland. To avoid them we are going to continue former actions of
prevention by identifying imported influenza cases and local respiratory
infection clusters.

Internal infection was found in Helsinki and Uusimaa Hospital District

At Oulu one more confirmed case was found from a couple who had returned
home from United States, spouse propably had the disease allready during
the trip.

Health and Welfare institution (THL) is contacting those who were in a
same flight with infected, Couple from Oulu travelled also by train
(Pendolino 845, Wagon 4, seats 67 and 68, starting at 16).

In Finland there is now 36 confirmed cases of Influenza A(H1N1).

Passangers who are returning Finland from Mexico, United States, Canada,
South-and Middle America ( specially Argentina and Chile ), Australia,
New Zealand and Hong Kong, Thailand and Philippines are recommened to
monitor their health after trip about a week and if necessary contact
health center by phone.

In Finland 7 new swine flu cases

In this week there has been 7 new swine flu cases confirmed in Finland.
Totally there is allready 43 influenza A(H1N1) cases. All the cases are
tourism related. None of the infected ones are in hospital care.

Health and Welfare institution has added Great Britain among the
countries, so people who have visited should monitor their health about
a week after trip. Other countries in a list are Mexico, United States,
Canada, South- and middle America ( specially Argentina and Chile )
Australia, New Zealand, HongKong, Thailand, Philippines, Maleysia and
Singapore.

THL says that in Cruise Ship Emeral Princess had confirmed influenza
cases allready in Oslo, tests taken at June 24th at Oslo. Norwegians
tested 7 passangers and 5 of them were infected.
Norway informed infections through ECDC but in Finland this information
was not noticed. Captain of the ship should have informed as obligated
confirmed cases before arriving to helsinki harbor.

19 New Cases of Swine Flu In Finland

The weekend saw the confirmation of 12 new cases of H1N1 virus infection in Finland. This brings the total number of cases in the country to 62.

The latest cases in Finland were reported by the the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC).

THL is urging all travellers, and especially those who have been in Mexico, the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia and Chile to keep a check on their health for a week after returning home and to phone their health service if they come down with symptoms of a feverish respiratory infection.

The first case of swine flu in Finland was confirmed in mid-May. By the start of June only four H1N1 cases had been diagnosed.

establishment of the confirmed cases was the morning a total of 79 Until Monday

In almost all cases, the infection has been obtained from abroad. Confirmed cases, five had received

Finland confirms 103 swine flu cases

Finnish health authorities said Monday that 15 new swine influenza transmissions had been diagnosed over the weekend, raising the total number of cases to 103.

The National Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) added that most of the swine flu patients had contracted the virus while travelling in North America.

The agency expects the first wave of the pandemic to hit Finland between August and October with a second projected to follow next year.

HELSINKI, July 15 (Xinhua) -- Finland has confirmed eight more A/H1N1 flu cases since Monday, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 111, Finnish media reported on Wednesday.

According to the Finnish National Institute for Health and Welfare, the internal transmission cases of A/H1N1 flu are increasing in Finland, as six to seven of the newly-confirmed patients are believed to have contracted the disease domestically.

Finland confirmed its first internal A/H1N1 flu transmission at the end of June. However, the majority of Finland's present A/H1N1flu patients had contracted the virus during international trips.

As Finnish health authorities expect the first wave of the pandemic to hit the country between August and October, the Finnish government plans to inoculate all citizens with flu vaccines during the coming autumn.

HELSINKI, Aug. 28 (Xinhua) -- Finland has so far confirmed 211 cases of A/H1N1 flu, one of which is severe case and receiving intensive care, local media reported on Friday.

According to the report, among all the diagnosed cases of A/H1N1 flu cases in Finland, 15 patients are receiving hospital nurse besides the severe case. The A/H1N1 flu death toll remains zero in Finland.

Finnish health authorities estimated earlier that A/H1N1 flu would be spreading nationwide in Finland this autumn. However, according to the latest information released by Finnish National Institute for Health and Welfare, major outbreak is not expected until November.

The use of anti-viral drugs is restricted now in Finland other than treating patients with serious symptoms and risk groups such as pregnant mothers, the long-term ill and medical personnel.
