First batch of A/H1N1 flu vaccines reaches Turkey

The first batch of A/H1N1 flu vaccines has arrived in the Turkish capital of Ankara on Monday, Turkish officials said.
The first batch of vaccines including 500,000 doses were brought in the Turkish largest city of Istanbul, Health Ministry officials were quoted as saying by Anatolia news agency, adding that the vaccines, which were ordered from Novartis company, were sent from Italy.
Officials said that the vaccines would be tested in Refik Saydam Hifzisihha Center for five up to 20 days, and then they would be distributed to health institutions if they were decided to be applicable.
The number of people, who have been infected with A/H1N1 virus in Turkey so far, is 551. The number of cases in Ankara reached 41in the last five days.
Meanwhile, seven people were diagnosed with A/H1N1 flu in four schools in the southeastern province of Diyarbakir, said a statement from Diyarbakir Governor's office on Monday.
The statement added that two schools were closed in the province of Diyarbakir after A/H1N1 flu cases were detected on Sunday.
