NUEVO LAREDO .- Dr. Jaime Emilio Guti?rrez Serrano, head of the Sanitary District number five in the city, said this will be the first of several cases to be presented at this time of low temperatures.

"Because of the nature of the disease, fever above 39 degrees, mucus, constant sneezing and headache, influenza is H1N1, even the least required to stay two days in hospital," he said.

Serrano Gutierrez said that a suspected case of some types of influenza, seasonal, and the recent H1N1 strain of H3N2, it is very important to act immediately to attack the disease.

Health chief in Nuevo Laredo, emphasized the importance of maintaining the alert phase in schools, businesses, homes and all public site, implementing preventive measures, especially in children, therefore urged parents to remain alert to any symptoms characteristic of influenza in children.

SYMPTOMS

The symptoms of influenza A H1N1 are very similar to those of a conventional flu are:

- Fever above 39 degrees, which appears suddenly.

- Cough.

- Severe headache.

- Muscle and joint pains.

- Eye irritation.

- Lack of appetite.

- Runny nose.

- There may be diarrhea, nausea and skin blemishes.

- Sore throat.

PREVENTION:

- Wash your hands frequently throughout the day with soap and water, there is evidence that it reduces by 45% the chances of contracting this virus.

- Cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue or your elbow angle.

- Throw away the tissue immediately into the trash and wash your hands.

- When you share food always use a spoon to serve. Do not share glasses or eating utensils.

"Do not spit on the ground.

- Avoid places closed and crowded if you suspect you suffer from the disease.

TO WASH YOUR HANDS

? 1 - Wet your hands under running water.

? 2 - Scrub your hands with soap (preferably liquid) for 15 seconds, covering all surfaces to the wrist.

? 3 - Rub your fingers and link, move in one direction and then another.

? 4 - Rinse hands under running water to remove soap.

? 5 - Wipe dry with a towel (preferably paper).

? 6 - Turn off the faucet with a paper towel and open the bathroom door with it.
