The National Network of Epidemiologic Alertness of the Institute of Health Carlos III, dependent on the Department of Science and Innovation, has confirmed the first two deaths for flu A in Spain since it began the period gripal, at the beginning of October.
According to the last informative bulletin of this network, two deceased are males and none had vaccinated against the flu although one of them was presenting multiple factors of risk. Other, a 42-year-old man, was admitted into UCI on November 29 and, after developing multiple complications, he died on December 1.
In both cases antiviral treatment was administered with oseltamivir, active beginning of the medicine of Roche ' Tamiflu ', more than 48 hours after the beginning of symptoms.
Also, the National Network of Alertness has reported that from the beginning of the period there have been notified five serious hospitalized confirmed cases of flu, all men, all of one in the status from 15 to 44 years and four in that from 45 to 64 years. Four of them have been confirmed of virus A/H1N1 and the fifth one of virus of the flu A/H3N2.
Of these cases, only one from infection for A/H1N1 did not need admission in UCI and, with the available information up to the moment, it is observed that three of the cases were not presenting any factor of risk. They all developed pneumonia, three presented bacterial coinfection, two syndrome of respiratory sharp distrés and one multiorganic mistake.
In the week from November 28 until December 4, the last one of which information gets ready, the global valuation of incidence of flu is still 22,71 cases for 100.000 inhabitants, below the threshold basal established for the period 2010-2011.
