The first case of measles in Collier County since 1997 was reported Tuesday in an adult, according to the Florida Department of Health.
Health officials are reaching out to individuals in the community who may have had contact with the man, who is a local resident, according to Jennifer Gomez, a spokeswoman for the health department in Collier.

A child attending an unidentified public school in Miami-Dade County has contracted measles, the Florida Department of Health confirmed on Tuesday.
Health officials said the affected child was not vaccinated against the highly contagious disease, which can spread through tiny droplets in the air produced by coughing or sneezing.
John Schuster, a spokesman for Miami-Dade Public Schools, declined to identify the child or the affected school. He said school officials are working with the health department to notify parents of other children who may be at risk of contracting the disease...
