There is still mystery surrounding the death of Alessio Anzaldi, a 46-year-old professional maintenance worker and well-known rugby player from Paterno, and his mother, Rossella Cirri, 66 years old, resident in Sesto, who died a few days apart from each other. A double drama that has greatly affected small Paterno, a hamlet of Vaglia in Mugello in the province of Florence. Both had the flu - like many others in the family - and both ended up in hospital (he in Borgo, she in Careggi) from where they did not return home. Elisabetta Tozzi, Alessio's partner and mother of two minor children, filed a complaint with the police: 'I want to understand what really happened.'

«During the holidays - the woman tells the Nation - we all got sick. First the little girl, then me, the other son and also Alessio. And his parents were with us a lot, to help us with the children.
Fortunately, my grandmother was vaccinated against the flu', she continues. Alessio immediately appeared in critical condition. «Before New Year's Eve, Alessio returned from work (maintenance worker in Careggi for a company) but he was not well. We went to the medical center in Vaglia where they prescribed cortisone. The fever, however, didn't go down, so on the fourth day of high fever we called the emergency medical service again', says the widow. So, for New Year's Eve he was admitted to the Borgo San Lorenzo hospital, in intensive care. In the evening, Alessio's mother's condition also worsened. The woman was taken to Careggi where she died on January 3rd. While an autopsy was carried out on the woman to understand the causes of death on the death of Alessio, who played rugby until 10 years ago, various aspects still remain to be clarified.
