Brevard Country woman contracts West Nile virus
BY ANDREW KNAPP • FLORIDA TODAY • October 9, 2010

Health officials confirmed Friday the first human case of the West Nile virus in Brevard County since 2004, prompting biologists to retaliate on the local mosquito population through an air campaign.

A 44-year-old woman, whose city of residence was not known, contracted the mosquito-borne disease that's rarely fatal and often without symptoms in humans. She never experienced headaches, fever, confusion or any other conditions sometimes indicative of the disease and is expected to recover without treatment.
