Measles not over in Collier; 3 new cases in September. Total hits 113

Three more cases of measles have been reported in Collier County, dashing hopes of a reprieve from the highly infectious disease. Collier had been the epicenter of a measles outbreak earlier this year at Ave Maria University largely among students at the small Catholic university. The university is inland, about 35 miles from central Naples.
The new cases are included in the state Department of Health's reportable disease website for the week of Sept. 6 -12. The week prior for the first week of September there were no new measles cases in Collier or anywhere in the state. In August, three children under the age of 4 were positive for measles, all in Immokalee in the farmworking community in eastern Collier. What's different with the three new cases for Sept. 6-12 is that two of them involve adults and one involves a child under the age of 4...
...A handful of other Florida counties have seen measles this year but nothing similar to Collier. The state total since the beginning of the year is 161 cases.
