Flu leads to closure of another school in Newton

The number of students absent due to the flu in Newton is prompting the superintendent to close the elementary school campus.
The campus was open Monday and Tuesday. It'll close for the rest of the week.
The superintendent had already announced the high school campus would close Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday but reopen Friday.
The middle school campus remains open.
Maintenance workers were at the high school early Tuesday wiping down surfaces and disinfecting the building, according to information given to KFDM News by Johnny Metz, the Assistant Superintendent for Operations in the Newton ISD.
About one fourth of the 300 students were absent from the high school on Monday.
