What is the current situation in France? (updated on 01/13/2016 at 10am)
In total, to date, 69 of highly pathogenic avian influenza outbreaks in poultry have been detected in eight departments of the South West of France.
ANSES gave its opinion delivered on 14 December 2015, on the potential danger to humans from the avian influenza strain identified, including the results of the complete sequencing of the H5N1 strain detected in the first home in the Dordogne. She confirmed the absence for this dangerous H5N1 strain of the key markers for human.

IN DORDOGNE, 13 HOMES
In the Dordogne, 13 HPAI outbreaks in poultry have been detected.
- On November 24, a highly pathogenic avian influenza outbreak in poultry (H5N1) in a backyard 32 hens at Biras;
- On 28 November, a virus outbreak influenza H5 highly pathogenic for poultry (H5N1 and H5N9) in a breeding of 14 000 ducks in Saint Paul La Roche;
- On 30 November, a highly pathogenic H5N2 avian influenza virus outbreak (1000 geese) in Domme;
- On December 4, in C?nac et Saint Julien, a flock of 1000 ducks and chickens 4000 was confirmed as a focus in the national surveillance program. The samples that were positive for H5 highly pathogenic for poultry were performed on ducks. The breeding was located in the restricted area of Domme (surveillance zone).
- A Nantheuil, December 7, 1000 a breeding ducks tested positive for highly pathogenic H5 in the surveillance framework in place for the release of animals from the restricted zone.
- A Bosset, on December 7, an influenza outbreak in a farm H5 N9 630 ducks was detected as a result of clinical signs.
- A Montignac, a flock of about 30 ducks, geese and chickens was confirmed H5N1 outbreak on December 8.
- On 14 December at Bosset, an outbreak of H5N1 was detected in a flock of ducks 1070.
- On December 14, two fireplaces, one of H5 N9, the other from H5N1 / H5 N9 were reported in Campagnac-les-Quercy in farms of 1,000 ducks.
- On December 15, as part of an output for slaughter, told a summer home Saint Amand de Coly in 1000 breeding ducks. The identified strain is highly pathogenic H5.
- On December 18, on the occasion of a zone output for slaughter, an outbreak was declared Lardin Saint Lazare in a farm of 480 ducks in the regulated area of Montignac. The corresponding highly pathogenic H5 strain is being determined.
- An outbreak of avian influenza highly pathogenic H5N1 was declared December 30, 2015 on a farm of 30 chickens, 150 pigeons and peacocks 4, in the town of Celles in Dordogne.
IN THE LANDES, 28 HOMES
- On December 6, a farm located Josse 500 ducks feeding was d?dect? (highly pathogenic H5);
- On 6 December in Doazit, following an abnormal mortality guinea (700 dead in 4000 hens), a farm was also confirmed as household (H5N9). Farming also has 8,800 hens, capons 4550 and 7200 keets.
- On 9 December in Horsarieux, the H5N9 strain has been detected in a breeding of guinea 4000, 12,600 chickens, 3,500 ducks and 960 chickens capons.
- On 14 December in Doazit, an outbreak of H5N2 was detected in a flock of ducks 1700.
- December 14, 3 outbreaks were reported in duck farms on the occasion of a zone output for slaughter, in the communes of Saint Etienne d'Orthe (restricted area Josse, breeding ducks in 1944, H5 N9 ) Bergouey (500 breeding ducks, highly pathogenic H5) and Monsegur (2,300 breeding ducks, restricted area Doazit, H5 N1).
- On December 15, six highly pathogenic influenza outbreaks in poultry were reported on the occasion of a zone output for slaughter, in the municipalities of:
Momuy, breeding ducks 6000; H5 N2
Saint-Cricq-Chalosse: 357 breeding ducks; Highly pathogenic H5
Montaut: 600 breeding ducks; H5 N9
Gaujacq: 543 breeding ducks; H5N9
Serreslous-et-Arribans: 845 breeding ducks; Highly pathogenic H5
Hauriet (restricted area Doazit-Horsarrieu): 380 breeding ducks; Highly pathogenic H5
- December 17 on the occasion of a zone output for slaughter, four outbreaks of avian influenza highly pathogenic H5 were reported in the municipalities of:
Montaut in a breeding of 320 geese and 300 chickens and 350 ducks.
Saint Sever, in a 1060 breeding ducks
Aubagnan in a breeding of ducks and 170 600 capons
Moncube Eyres, in a 2104 breeding ducks.
The finalization of the determination of strains is ongoing.
- On 18 December, an influenza outbreak H5N2 and highly pathogenic H5N9 has been reported in Saint Cricq Chalosse in farming 12,000 ducks.
- On December 19, a highly pathogenic H5 influenza outbreak was declared in Serre-Gastondans a duck farm.
- On December 21, a highly pathogenic avian influenza has been identified in Cagnotte following a clinical suspicion in a duck feeding workshop.
Seven other highly pathogenic H5 avian influenza outbreaks were reported in ducks feeding workshops as part of an output for slaughter from the restricted area of Doazit:
3 homes have been identified in the town of Eyres Moncube two of which are associated with an H5N9 strain of highly pathogenic
4 more outbreaks were reported in the towns of Cazalis, Hauriet, Mugron and Montsoue. The strain of Montsoue outbreak was identified December 21 as a highly pathogenic H5N9 influenza virus.
- An outbreak was declared on Jan. 5, 2016 in a farming 4,400 chickens and 950 ducks in the town of Toulouzette
The corresponding strains are being determined.
HIGH-VIENNA, 1 OUTBREAK
In Haute-Vienne, December 9, a single outbreak was confirmed in a poultry farm (80 hens, pullets and 60 capons, 20 ducks, 80 quail) in Les Billanges. The identified strain is the highly pathogenic H5N1 in poultry.
IN GERS, 10 OUTBREAKS
- A highly pathogenic H5N2 outbreak was detected in a 10 December 8300 breeding ducks in Manciet.
- A highly pathogenic H5 outbreak in poultry was reported on December 15 in a breeding ducks in Panjas 1500, during a restricted zone output for slaughter.
- A highly pathogenic H5 strain was identified 15 December 2015 in a breeding of ducks and guinea fowls 2000 in Mirande, following a clinical suspicion. Typing of the strain is being determined.
- On 17 December, three H5 highly pathogenic influenza outbreaks in poultry were reported in ducks farms in the towns of Cazaubon (980 ducks) Eauze (1000 ducks) and Caupenne d'Armagnac (1400 ducks). These clusters were identified as part of an output of animals for slaughter. The influenza strains for these cases are being determined.
- On December 17, a highly pathogenic avian influenza outbreak was reported in Averon Bergelle in a breeding 700canards.
- On December 19, a highly pathogenic avian influenza outbreak was reported in Ayzieu at a duck farm. Another highly pathogenic H5 outbreak was identified in Saint Michel on a farm of 32,000 chickens and ducks.
- On December 22, a highly pathogenic influenza outbreak was confirmed in Montaut in a booster workshop 415 geese. The viral strain is being determined.
IN THE ATLANTIC PYRENEES, 12 OUTBREAKS
- A Arroses an H5N9 outbreak was confirmed on December 11 in a 500 breeding ducks.
- An outbreak of avian influenza highly pathogenic H5 was found Dec. 15, 2015 in Uzan in 8748 breeding ducks.
- On December 18, two highly pathogenic H5 avian influenza outbreaks were reported in duck farms in the municipalities of Maucor (736 ducks) and Saint Jammes (900 ducks).
- On 18 December, a highly pathogenic H5 strain was identified in a breeding Crouseilles 1810 ducks.
- On 18 December a H5 highly pathogenic influenza outbreak N9 was reported in a flock of 632 ducks Vialer.
- On December 19, a highly pathogenic H5 influenza outbreak was reported in a flock of Charre in 3100 ducks
- On 20 December, three HPAI outbreaks were reported in duck farms in Navailles-Angos (500 ducks) Cosl?da?-Lube-Boast (500 ducks) and Escoubes (500 ducks).
- An outbreak was declared on Jan. 6, 2016 on a farm of 10,000 chickens and 4,000 ducks in the town of Gabat
- An outbreak was declared January 12, 2016 on a farm of 1280 ducks Orin. A highly pathogenic H5N2 strain was identified.
IN THE HAUTES-PYR?N?ES, 3 OUTBREAKS
- 1 case of highly pathogenic H5 influenza was detected 18 December 2015 in the town of Labatut-Rivi?re in a farm 888 ducks in the restricted area of Arroses. The strain is being determined.
- Another highly pathogenic H5 N2 outbreak was reported on the same day on a farm in Ossun 725 geese.
- An outbreak was identified Bazillac 22 December 3000 in a breeding of ducks and geese in 2600. The strain is being determined.
IN LOT, 1 OUTBREAK
- A highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza outbreak was declared on Jan. 4, 2016 on a farm of 260 guinea fowl, 280 ducks, 650 chickens and 60 broiler hens, in the town of Miers
HAUTE-GARONNE, 1 OUTBREAK
- An outbreak was declared January 12, 2016 on a farm of 10,000 chickens and 7,000 ducks in the town of Lafitte-Vigordane
