Avian influenza: A first case detected in Saint-Plaisir, in Allier, in a breeding of web-footed birds and gallinaceans
Updated on 08/11/2024
A first outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza was confirmed on November 7 in a multi-species poultry farm in the commune of Saint-Plaisir .
As a reminder : the consumption of meat, foie gras and eggs – and more generally any food product made from poultry – does not present any risk to humans.
To avoid any risk of spreading the virus to other farms, regulated protection zones (ZP) and surveillance zones (ZS) are set up within a radius of 3 and 10 km.
A municipality is located within a 3 km radius : SAINT PLAISIR.
The municipalities concerned by the 10 km zone, in addition to the municipality mentioned above, are: BOURBON L ARCHAMBAULT, CERILLY, COULEUVRE, FRANCHESSE, LE VILHAIN, LIMOISE, LURCY LEVIS, POUZY MESANGY, SAINT AUBIN LE MONIAL, THENEUILLE and YGRANDE.
In these areas, all places of detention of poultry and captive birds are subject to specific requirements . In particular, the movement of poultry and other captive birds is prohibited , except for exemptions granted by the departmental directorate in charge of Population Protection (DDETSPP).
Furthermore, as part of the measures to combat the spread of the virus, an operation to depopulate around 200 poultry on the farm affected by the case of avian influenza was carried out.
In general, and in order to limit the spread of the virus, which can have significant economic consequences, all professionals in the poultry sector and individuals are reminded to strictly respect biosecurity measures (in particular sheltering) throughout the department and to remain extremely vigilant.
Monitoring of wild bird mortality is also being strengthened and the discovery of dead wild birds must be reported to the SAGIR monitoring network.
