Dead Ducks Discovered in Speicher Lake

Neufinsing - In Speicher Lake on Sunday ten dead ducks were found. Whether it acts itself bird flu, must clarify now the Authorities.

The bird flu alarm was straight only blown off, there threatens new mischief.

A fisherman found at least ten dead ducks on Sunday against 17.30 o'clock within the range of the eastern discharge of the Ismaninger of storage reservoir.

The Kadaver was on the bank nearby the power station at the central dam with Neufinsing.

The fisherman alarmed police headquarters Erding, which disengaged fire-brigade Eicherloh at Speicher Lake together with the fire brigade.

In protective clothing the aids saved the dead animals and put them into garbage bags.

also speculation about connections from Schwandorf
to the quarantine region near Erlangen.
In worst case 1M fowl has to be culled !

this is still very speculative, no confirmation from FLI

New bird flu suspicion in Bavaria Munich.

In Bavaria there are new cases of suspicion on bird flu. Ten dead ducks, which are infected with the H5N1-Virus possibly, were found on weekend at the Ismaninger storage reservoir in the district Erding, how the district administration office communicated Erding on Tuesday. The animals were brought to the investigation into the national office for health and food security. The results are to be present still this week. At the beginning of of August had been already determined at the same lake of the exciters with three dead ducks.

Schwandorf results expected tomorrow

last weekend thousands of samples were taken in poultry-farms which had had contact
with a farm where H5N1 was proved
Results are expected tomorrow or later. Until then there are movement restrictions.

Bavaria radio had reported that 1million poultry were at risk of being culled in that region.

The connections should already be known since the 10 wild ducks are from the same lake as the three earlier ducks and there should now be sequence data for the earlier wild ducks (on at least two) as well as the first positives from the farm.

this is not about the 10 ducks in Ismaning/Munich area but about
Schwandorf, which is near the Czech border.

'all-clear' signal for bird flu in the district Munich


DPA- Erding The bird flu restricted area in the district Munich is finally waived. With 15 dead birds, which few days ago at the Ismaninger storage reservoir was found, the suspicion on bird flu was not confirmed, communicated the district administration office Erding on Thursday. The national office for health and food security gave 'all-clear' signal.


At the beginning of of August had been determined with two dead ducks, which had been discovered in the area, also the variant of the bird flu virus H5N1 dangerous for humans.

Afterwards the authorities issued a restricted area with a kilometer of radius approximately around the lakeshore. Utilizable poultry there held were not allowed the range so far to leave.

Besides dogs and cats in the restricted area were not allowed to run around freely. These regulations are repealed set with immediate effect.

nothing about Schwandorf in the news today.
Results from FLI were scheduled for today.

Could be a bad sign : they have more reason to delay it, if
it's positive. They would need time to prepare the cullings
and don't want to alarm the poultry keepers

unfortunately so.
fortunately "only" 205000 ducks to be culled.
But who knows, maybe this has to be extended later.

bidflu suspicion - 205 000 ducks are being culled


Schwandorf (dpa/lby) - In NE Bavaria about 205000 ducks are killed.
The state-office in Schwandorf announced on Friday, that today is begun with the culling.
2 ffarms in Nittenau-area are affected, which are sub-companies
of the farm in Wachenroth, where the outbreak was 2 weeks ago.
In Schwandorf area there are clear signs for H5N1 said a county-spokesman.
Whether there was already an outbreak in those 2 farms remains unclear
