Swine flu: So many new cases as never

1 01.10.09 |

The swine flu has taken control over Munich. 13 days for the number of infected Munich climbed slowly but steadily. But on Thursday the number of new cases seemed to explode, absolutely.

"Now the virus raging in the city," suggests Professor Georg Vogel (63) alarm. The flu expert had warned two weeks ago before the great risk of infection. "This has also contributed much to the Oktoberfest," says the virus Specialist. "But in my practice, I was diagnosed this week, even at twelve new swine flu, and patients treated with Tamiflu.

Including three cases with severe pneumonia, which only came late, because they still wanted to advance to the Oktoberfest. And this is just the tip of the iceberg. Because I have only one of over a thousand practices for general or internal medicine in Munich. Most sufferers do not even go to the doctor, but try to recover from the flu at home alone. "

Prof. since the great white bird flu Waves of recent years: "Whenever we have in our practice a few days more than five new patients with influenza, it is already an epidemic. Both may be only a subjective experience, but so far they have always voted. "

Only young people affected

The twelve patients in the current influenza Professors are exclusively for young people 17 to 20 years: "All have previously celebrated at the Oktoberfest," said Vogel.

The Bavarian State Office for Health and Food Safety (LGL) but reported for the city and county in Munich on Monday 19, Tuesday 21, Wednesday at ten, and suddenly yesterday, 66 new cases of swine flu. But these are only the officially confirmed figures. The unreported cases is at least ten times higher.

Problem in schools

The Munich-based schools know the problem. The high school in 35 children suffering because of Pullach was already closed. Staying in Maisach must be a tenth class at home, because 20 are affected by 29 students. In high school Gr?felfing there are five new cases of H1N1 Viral infections.

The Gymnasium Nymphenburg is because of several ill students every day in contact with the health department. KVR - Spokeswoman Daniela Schlegel: "That is to increase the number of patients, no question."

To prevent the outbreak of a major epidemic is still to advise, Prof. Vogel: "Pay attention to hygiene, especially if someone in your environment much more coughs or sneezes. And if you feel suddenly very sick and have a high fever, you should immediately go to the doctor. For only with specific drugs can the flu virus in a short time efficiently fight.

It certainly has nothing to do with the end of the election in Deutchland

The Lesson is: AVOID CROWDS

I also imagine that the suppression of the immune system with copious amounts of alcohol played a role.

:D The weather has changed, summer is over now, that is what is happening I think. Also schools and universities started.

Frau Merkel can do a lot of things, but she cannot control young people in Munich falling ill or waiting to fall ill until after the elections.. :)

The pandemic seems to gain steam in Europe, other countries report more cases too.

But..but.. Frau Merkel suceed in putting the cover on the boiling pandemic.

Re: Germany-Munich: number of swineflu cases seems to explode

only 16 cases outside Bavaria ?
decining outsid Bavaria ?

gsgs,

no, reports from RKI and LGL were published on 5 October and 6 October 2009, respectively, but they reflect data from different times (different data timestamp), mainly due to a substatial time delay in the RKI reports.

There might be a very long way from Bavaria to Berlin. :D
