With summer having set in and temperature rising further, hopefully spread of the disease will be curbed automatically. AHMEDABAD: As the temperature crossed 40 degree Celsius mark on Sunday, it brought big relief to state health authorities who were worried about the rising number of swine flu cases. The number of new cases has dropped drastically in the past few days. On Sunday, the state reported 34 new cases and three deaths because of H1N1 infection.

The total death toll from the disease in the state has risen to 413 while, 6,394 H1N1 infections have been reported till date in the state. Ahmedabad has borne the brunt of H1N1 outbreak in 2015.

According to health department officials of the Rajkot Municipal Corporation (RMC), the deceased were identified as Dharamshi Saradva (59), a resident of Marry Gold Residency on Kalawad Road and 29-year-old Heenaben Ramani, a resident of Somnath Society in Mavdi plot area in city. Twelve more Swine flu deaths were reported from the state on Tuesday, taking the total number of deaths since January 1 to 231. The total cases that have been reported so far stand at 3,527, even as the Ahmedabad collector imposed prohibitory orders under CrPC section 144, banning unlawful assembly in an attempt to curtail the spread of the virus. Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar reported two deaths each while one death each was reported from Surat, Vadodara, Rajkot, Kheda, Amreli, Sabarkantha, Morbi and Porbandar.
Among the 190 new cases of Swine flu that came up on Tuesday, Ahmedabad again reported the maximum cases of 98. Surat had 18 cases, Sabarkantha 10, Gandhinagar and Banaskantha 9 each. Kutch, Rajkot and Mehsana reported 6 cases each while Vadodara, Anand, Amreli and Kheda reported 4 cases each.
