Health confirmed 33 cases of dengue in Concepcion
The Ministry of Health has registered so far, some 34 cases of dengue, of which only one was in Asunci?n and was imported from Mexico. The rest of those affected are residents of the department of Concepci?n, mainly in the towns and Horqueta Puentesi?o. It also warned of the continued circulation of H1N1 influenza virus.
Dr. Ivan Allende, Director of Health Surveillance, said yesterday at a news conference that six cases of dengue were confirmed by laboratory and epidemiologic rest.
He added that so far, no data on the serotype of the virus that is affecting the residents of Puentesi?o and Horqueta. However, he reminded the risk of having an increased occurrence of severe cases if they enter the serotypes 2 and 4 to our country, because there are some 500,000 people who might have a second infection and develop the hemorrhagic variant.
Allende recalled that, besides the places mentioned in the First Department, efforts were under lock in Bella Vista Norte, Amambay; ?emby Central and Villa Morra district in Asuncion.
