H1N1 death toll rising; Parents cautious about Santa visits

The death toll related to H1N1 in Alberta is up by three, to 42 Alberta Health Services reported Tuesday.
This news comes the same day that the province has started phasing in vaccinations for members of the general public. Clinics opened Tuesday morning to those aged 75 or older as of November 1st, along with their spouses or partners.
The clinics will open to those aged 65 and older as of November 1st, along with spouses and partners, on Thursday. The province will re-assess things at the end of the week, regarding dosage levels, before deciding whether to allow all Albertans to access the vaccine.
Meantime, parents are taking a cautious approach towards having their kids sit on Santa Claus' lap this holiday season.
"I think they (parents) should take the proper precautions," said one 'Mom' at Southgate Mall Tuesday morning, noting that her kids have already been vaccinated against H1N1.
Most parents are already taking that to heart, noting that most everyone 630 CHED asked about whether they would take their kids to see Santa, answered, "Absolutely."
Most shopping centres have sanitizing gel dispensers set up.
