Health confirmed 17 cases of influenza A in the country
In the most absolute silence and without the hype generated last year, influenza A arrived in the country.
This is confirmed by the latest report by which the Ministry of Health of the Nation describes the situation of acute respiratory infections and respiratory virus circulation in Argentina. The statement confirms that there "17 isolated cases of Influenza A H1N1 pandemic virus (2009)." The patients belong to the provinces of Buenos Aires, Ciudad de Buenos Aires, San Juan, Santa Cruz, Santiago del Estero, and Entre Rios. It is recalled that until C?rdoba no positive cases were reported influenza A.
At home, meanwhile, from an epidemiological week so far, reported eight different types of virus. The respiratory syncytial represents the highest percentage (86.2%), followed by parainfluenza (6.6%), adenovirus (3.1%). It also identified 17 (0.26%) cases of influenza A H1N1 pandemic virus 2009.
In patients under 5 years, the predominant virus is respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) (86.5%), followed by parainfluenza (6.6%). In the cases of five years or more in 50% of them were identified RSV, while 3% were influenza A H1N1 pandemic virus.
It is worth remembering that the most prevalent virus RSV is the most common germ that causes infections in the lungs and airways in babies and young children. Most children have had this infection to those of two years. Outbreaks of RSV infection usually begin in the fall and run until spring.
Meanwhile, from the national health portfolio, noted that "bronchiolitis and pneumonia in 2010 show a notification greater than the same period of 2009. As for bronchiolitis, the trend given by the increase in all epidemiological week of 2010 with respect to previous years can be expected that the same is maintained in future weeks, including increased incidence, allowing a lawsuit to provide care facilities higher than expected for this time. "
Regarding the current situation of the scope of coverage of vaccination campaign against influenza, the Ministry reported that "are currently applied doses of pandemic vaccine 6,512,553. Monovalent vaccine was used for people under age 65 and older trivalent vaccine for 65 years. The global coverage of the country to date exceeds 86%, it being necessary to strengthen the implementation of monovalent H1N1 vaccine in the pediatric population. "
