The state Department of Health is investigating an increasing number of cases of mumps infection statewide.

Since March 2017, DOH has become aware of two clusters of cases, together involving at least nine individuals on Oahu. There have been fourteen confirmed cases statewide in 2017...

That brings the total number of mumps cases so far this year to 16.

The recently confirmed cases are children. Two of the cases are linked to a previously confirmed adult case, and two of the cases are linked to previous cases in the community. None of the individuals required hospitalization.

Two of those people are children and one is an adult. They contracted mumps from others whose sickness had already been confirmed, the department stated in a news release.

The state has confirmed 14 additional cases of mumps in Hawaii, bringing the total number of cases so far this year to 133.

Eleven of those cases are on Oahu, two are on Kauai and one is on the Big Island, the state Department of Health said.

Six of the new cases are in children; none of those who got sick required hospitalization.

Last year, Hawaii saw just 10 cases of mumps.

As the number of mumps cases soars, state officials are urging all residents born in or after 1957 to confirm they're vaccinated...

Two more mumps cases on the Big Island were confirmed.

The state Department of Health said in a statement Friday that 18 new cases of highly contagious mumps were confirmed in the state.

Twelve are on Oahu, two on the Big Island and four on Kauai, bringing the total number of cases this year to 172 statewide. Previously, there was only one case of mumps confirmed on the Big Island...

The Hawaii Department of Health says it could be a year or more before the state's mumps outbreak finally subsides.

Health department officials recently disclosed that 112 cases of mumps had been reported over the course of the last month, including 27 in the last week alone.

284 cases have been reported since the outbreak began, including five on Hawaii Island, 22 on Kauai, and one on Maui.

The recent outbreak is the largest number of cases Hawaii has seen in decades. In all of 2016, Hawaii saw just 10 total cases of mumps...

The state Department of Health reported four new cases of mumps on the Big Island in its weekly update.

Since June 30, 12 cases have been confirmed on the island as of Thursday.

Cases are increasing statewide; about half are children and half adults.

Among vaccinated people, 12 percent still get mumps if exposed, but effects are less severe.

A total of 332 cases have been confirmed statewide: 290 on Oahu, 29 on Kauai, 12 on Hawaii Island and one on Maui...
