CHP notified of three additional human cases of avian influenza A(H7N9) in Mainland


The Centre for Health Protection (CHP) of the Department of Health (DH) yesterday (March 8) received notification of three additional human cases of avian influenza A(H7N9) respectively in Meizhou and Chaozhou from the Health and Family Planning Commission of Guangdong Province, and in Fujian from the National Health and Family Planning Commission.

The patient in Meizhou is a man aged 70 while that in Chaozhou is a woman aged 76. The case in Fujian is a man aged 27. All of them are now hospitalised for treatment.

As of yesterday, a total of 379 human cases of avian influenza A(H7N9) have been confirmed in the Mainland, including:

  1. Zhejiang (138 cases),
  2. Guangdong (87 cases),
  3. Jiangsu (43 cases),
  4. Shanghai (41 cases),
  5. Fujian (21 cases),
  6. Hunan (17 cases),
  7. Anhui (nine cases),
  8. Jiangxi (six cases),
  9. Beijing (four cases),
  10. Henan (four cases),
  11. Guangxi (three cases),
  12. Shandong (three cases),
  13. Guizhou (one case, imported from Zhejiang),
  14. Hebei (one case) and
  15. Jilin (one case).
