Written by:

4/19/2020

The laboratory of the National Food Chain Safety Office (Nébih) has again confirmed the presence of highly pathogenic avian influenza virus in Bács-Kiskun County. The infection this time reached a fattening goose farm of about 3,500 individuals, where the herd has already been eradicated.

According to the Nébih report, the increased mortality and nervous system symptoms in the herd of about 3,500 fattening geese in Kiskunmajsa, Bács-Kiskun County, drew the animal's attention to the suspicion of bird flu. The Nébih laboratory confirmed the presence of the H5N1 subtype of the virus in the herd..

Avian influenza has again reached Békés and Csongrád-Csanád counties
magyarmezogazdasag.hu
Thursday, April 21, 2022, 12:09 PM

The presence of the highly pathogenic avian influenza virus was confirmed by the laboratory of Nébih in two fattening goose farms in Békés county and in a flock of breeding hens, as well as in a flock of geese in Csongrád-Csanád county. The affected sites are being liquidated. The new outbreaks affect a total of more than 65,000 poultry, but in addition, the disease continues to spread in Bács-Kiskun County.

In Mezőkovácsháza and Tótkomlós, Békés counties, avian influenza was suspected due to increased mortality in a flock of fattening geese and in a breeding farm in Nagybánhegyes. The infection affects a total of about 43,000 poultry. In Zákányszék, in Csongrád-Csanád county, a farm holding 22,000 beef geese also concluded that the disease was possible due to high mortality and nervous system symptoms.
In all cases, laboratory tests with Nébih confirmed the presence of the highly pathogenic avian influenza virus subtype H5N1.

The liquidation of the files is in progress. In Békés county, epidemiological experts have designated a protection zone with a radius of 3 km around the affected farms and a surveillance zone with a radius of 10 km. In Csongrád-Csanád county, the authority decided to extend the mandatory 10 km radius monitoring area based on a risk analysis. Further investigations have been launched in the areas and restrictions on animal movements have been put in place. The national veterinarian informed the partner countries about the outbreak.

In addition to the outbreaks in Békés and Csongrád-Csanád counties, Nébih also confirmed the highly pathogenic avian influenza in other farms in Bács-Kiskun county last week, therefore the surveillance (surveillance) areas had to be expanded here as well...

Avian flu: Hungary announces new H5N1 outbreak and kills 10,000 more birds
04/25/2022 15:46

The National Office for Safety in the Food Chain in Hungary (Nébih) announced on Monday the registration of a new outbreak of the H5N1 strain of the avian influenza virus in the country.

According to the agency, 10,000 birds were sacrificed on a farm near the border with Romania, bringing the total number since the beginning of this year to 78,000.

According to the Nébih, the virus is lethal to birds and, because of its spread, it was decided to create defense zones with a radius of three kilometers.

In addition, an observation perimeter of ten kilometers has been established around the affected farm, which is in the town of Nagykamarás, according to the Hungarian news agency "MTI"...

According to official information, 78,000 birds were euthanized this year in Hungary as a result of outbreaks of H5N1 in farms in the center and south of the country...

Avian influenza has appeared in the infection-free area of Csongrád-Csanád county so far
NÉBIH
Thursday, May 26, 2022, 2:35 PM

The laboratory of Nébih confirmed the presence of highly pathogenic avian influenza virus in another area of Csongrád-Csanád county. The infected fattening goose population in Szeklerland has already been eradicated, and epidemic and animal movement restrictions have been put in place in the area. Meanwhile, in Békés county, all the protected areas were dissolved by Nébih.

In the herd of Székkutas in Csongrád-Csanád County, which numbered about 3,200 fattening geese, the increased mortality and the appearance of nervous system symptoms drew the animal's attention to the possible infection with avian influenza. The Nébih laboratory confirmed the presence of the H5N1 subtype of the virus in the herd.

The herd has already been eradicated on suspicion of the disease. A protection zone with a radius of 3 km has been designated around the holding concerned and a surveillance zone with a radius of 10 km has been defined...

Bird flu struck in Vágsellye district
Poultry will be inspected in several settlements in Komárom district!
Monday, May 30, 2022 - 2:37 PM
A veterinarian has confirmed the outbreak of bird flu in a backyard farm in the Šaľa district, the State Veterinary and Food Safety Inspectorate (ŠVPS) said on Monday.

TASR NEWS

“On 24 May, the Regional Veterinary and Food Safety Inspectorate (RVPS) in Vágčely confirmed the presence of the H5N1 virus in a backyard in Vlčany. At the beginning of the 21st week, several poultry died unexpectedly, and the owner noticed that the other birds had anorexia and lethargy, ”the veterinarian said in a report. Of the 35 birds, 25 died within a few days, and the remaining flocks were liquidated and the poultry farm disinfected on 25 May.

No new birds have entered their backyards in the past year, so the flock has certainly infected the flock, according to the report. Surveillance has been carried out in accordance with national and EU regulations to prevent the spread of avian influenza, the precautionary measures in place are valid within a radius of 3 kilometers from the node, and poultry flocks are inspected within a radius of 10 kilometers.

Within a radius of 3 km there are Vlčany and Neded. In addition to Vágselye, the wider settlements also include the settlements of Nové Zámky, Galanta and Komárno: Selice, Žihárec, Dolný Chotár, Tímik Zemné), Komoča, Tvrdošovce, Dedina Mládeže and Veľký Ostrov.

The H5N1 virus is still present in Bács-Kiskun county
The number of poultry in the county infected with the highly pathogenic avian influenza virus (H5N1) continued to increase.

According to the data published by the National Food Chain Safety Office (Nébih), the presence of the virus was detected last week in Kiskunhalas in a roast duck herd, in Petőfiszállás and in Harkakötöny in a flock of ducks, and in Jászszentlászló in a mulard duck herd.

According to Nébih, in addition to Bács-Kiskun, the avian influenza virus is also present in Csongrád-Csanád and Békés counties. Attention was drawn to the fact that epidemiological discipline should not be relaxed. Feed and litter for animals should be stored indoors, with a strong emphasis on proper personal hygiene and vehicle disinfection. It is still mandatory to keep poultry flocks closed in high-risk areas of the country.

As we reported, the bird flu struck again in Bács-Kiskun county in April this year. At that time, in the herd of about 3,500 fattening geese in Kiskunmajsa, the increased mortality and nervous system symptoms drew the keeper's attention to the suspicion of bird flu. The Nébih laboratory confirmed the presence of the H5N1 subtype of the virus in the herd. Veterinary experts have already eradicated the herd on suspicion.

A few days later, in addition to Bács-Kiskun, avian influenza again reached Békés and Csongrád-Csanád counties. These outbreaks have affected a total of more than 65,000 poultry.
