The Morgan County Health Department says it?s aware of two confirmed cases of mumps, and one suspected case.

According to a press release, the cases appear to be isolated and no common link between them has been identified...

Greene County Health Department officials have confirmed one case of mumps in the county and are looking into another case of a person suspected to be ill with the contagious virus, according to the Greene County Health Department.

Suspected and confirmed cases of mumps have been reported in west-central Illinois since January. Morgan County has confirmed at least 19 cases and is looking into at least 10 suspected cases...

A mumps outbreak might now involve a third west-central Illinois county.

At the beginning of April, health officials in Morgan County were dealing with 29 confirmed or suspected cases of the contagious virus and Greene County Health Department authorities said there was one confirmed and one suspected case in that county.

Now Scott County health administrators are reporting a suspected case involving a school student, according to a letter sent to parents of school-age children Friday...

...So far this year, there's been 65 cases reported across the state, including the cases from Morgan and Sangamon counties. Mumps has also been reported in Fulton, Greene, Champaign, Cook and Will counties. The cases are mostly in adults...

Public health officials in Illinois do not believe that mumps cases recently reported in Chicago are related to the larger outbreaks downstate. Since the first of the year, there have been three cases reported in Chicago and a few other in surrounding suburbs, though little information has been released regarding these presumed isolated cases in Cook County...

CHAMPAIGN ? Nine University of Illinois students have become sickened with the mumps in an outbreak that began just after spring break and has continued with about two new cases a week.

Dr. Robert Palinkas, director of UI McKinley Health Center, said most students have been sent home to be isolated and recover with their families, and he expects to continue seeing about two new mumps cases on campus through the end of the school year.

There was also a UI staff member who may be a possible 10th cases of mumps, Palinkas said.

The UI students who got mumps had all been vaccinated for the disease, according to Champaign-Urbana Public Health District Epidemiologist Alwais Vaid...

More Mumps Cases Reported in Sangamon County

SANGAMON COUNTY - The mumps outbreak continues to grow in Sangamon County. Three more case have been confirmed.
This brings this year's total to 15 cases. According to the Sangamon County Department of Public Health, 14 of the cases are in adults; one new case has been reported in a person under 18.
More than 40 cases of mumps have been reported this year in Illinois...

This letter is to inform you that a person in your child's school may have contracted a case of mumps. You are being told about this situation so that you can be aware of the symptoms of this disease, how it is transmitted and how to prevent infection. Mundelein student suspected to have mumps, officials say

SPRINGFIELD (WREX) - Illinois public health officials say they hope the number of reported mumps cases in the state has peaked at 82.

A total of 82 cases of the infection were reported in Illinois through the end of April, over triple what was reported for the entirety of 2013...
