District Collector R. Girija has dispelled fears on amoebic encephalitis and said the disease is not contagious.
The Collector has asked the health wing of municipalities to ensure sanitation.
The services of Kudumbasree and Anganwadi workers would be engaged to improve sanitation, she said.
A 16-year-boy died of the disease in the district recently. The boy had been infected with primary amoebic encephalitis, caused by amoeba belonging to the Naeglaria genus.
